This might sounds absurd I just listened to Mellon Collie for the first time, and have been listening to both disc through since. What an amazing record. The jump in songwriting and arrangement from Siamese Dream to this... Wow. That XYU song is so heavy and gritty, then there are tunes that are just so sexy and airy. the record does not sound 18 years old. Good job, flood alan moulder bald guy and heroine drummer.

I think it's safe to assume you didn't miss out on much. They've been churning out awful new age garbage for about 20 years now, and everything that made them great was probably last seen on the live album Poland. Have you heard their new horrible remake of Rubycon?

Who knows what happened. I have a box set of their live shows from the 70s, along with a pre-Zeit collection of analog space jams, and it's all so amazing.

i've never really actively sat down and listened to velvet underground/lou reed before..one of those artists that you know you should listen to but sort of never get around to..but with the news of his death, it made me curious as to what everyone is on about (like a lot of other people i'm sure) . so far gotten through the self titled Velvet Underground album, VU, White Light/White Heat, Transformer, and Berlin. zombi are really cool, if but a flawed premise. as the name implies, they generally operate in the italian prog/film score world, taking influence from goblin and john carpenter, and other masters of horror scores. the only real original element in this collection is using a more modern sound and mixing analog gear with digital/modern techniques. and of course, outside of one direct cover, it's original material.

this anthology is their first album and 12'', which owe a heavy debt to the dawn of the dead/suspiria scores as well as stuff like tangerine dream and faust, but it's great. since then they have flirted with more sounds and styles, oftentimes heading in a more club/dance direction, other times more rock, etc. really an interesting band worth checking out if you're into this kind of thing and don't mind if they wear their influences on their sleeves...

Temple of the Dog's self-titled and only album is really incredible. When I was younger I had only heard the song "Hunger Strike" and vaguely remembered that members of Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains were involved. When I was younger I had only heard the song "Hunger Strike" and vaguely remembered that members of Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains were involved.
