This is a great venue. Saw the Kills and the Black Angels there a couple years back. Great place for a show.

I'm pretty new to the area and have never been to this venue. I've heard the actual floor level is limited to the first 500 people who show up (which won't include me, since I'll be leaving west LA at 6:30) and then there is either general admission balcony seating or general admission standing room on tiered levels. I would probably shoot for the standing room and would assume I'd end up on one of the tiers and not actually on floor/pit. Is the view and sound relatively decent from those sections still? Enough to merit a rush hour drive from west LA/century city?

I was in the front of the tiers the only time that I've been there; the view and sound were good from there. I can't vouch for the rest of the place.

I got my presale ticket! Was surprised that we didn't have to choose balcony or floor upon purchase. I am driving from work in west LA straight to the concert...hoping to escape early to take advantage of early entry so I can be in the pit! But if I get there after doors open, I am assuming we can pick either floor (tiers) or balcony?

Doors are at 8:00 so you actually might make it in the first group to get in. The pre-sale group is pretty small and we're supposed to get early entry. If you could leave by 6:00 you certainly would be all set.

Don't get me wrong, I'm really psyched to first see the show in Toronto. But people around these parts shouldn't automatically be beside themselves just because it's TR onstage. I've been listening to NIN for... errrr, a really long time... so I haven't formed anywhere near the relationship with HTDA's music as I have with NIN.

HI GUYS,

I have two extra GA floor tix from ticketmaster. Does anyone want them for face value or NIN trade of equal or lesser value ($80 for the pair)? I know I only have two posts, which might make me look shady, but when the board crashed a few years ago I didn't really come back and keep posting, but back in the day my username was 'skinnypuppy' and Jessamineny can vouch for me as she slept on my couch in Los Angeles during the Wave Goodbye tour :)

Don't want these tix to go to waste.

best way to get in touch with me is via email or cell or twitter or fb / jon.hughes001 AT gmail DOT com, 818 four four two 8326 (txt me), twitter.com/wakeupjon facebook.com/wakeupjon

The visual teases from all the HTDA members have me really excited. At first I was expecting a fun show, now I'm expecting my mind to be blown LITS-style. THE PRESSURE IS ON!

Ah! Ok thanks for clearing that up and everyone else. I was confused because it contains the roman numeral 7 but reversed so I was sorta thinking, "Dee Seven" or something. Lol. I figured it had to be something better than that! Wikipedia is always everyone's friend and I'm a dork. Anyways that's great there's parking in the back of the venue, I will keep that in mind. Yeah it looks like it says 80 Signed. So if they have that much signed at the Chicago show, let's just say I'm gonna be dashing for the merch booth. Hopefully they put a cap on those signed posters. Some dude in front of me at the Chicago Wave Goodbye show bought a giant stack of posters to flip on ebay. Like $300 dollars worth. I'd hope that they won't let that happen with these signed ones.

Welcome Oblivion
BBB
The Space in Between (remix)

Really great show. To add to the instrument summary, Trent's guitar seemed to primarily be his octave-tuned one so he could play it slide guitar style and create his DRONES. He also played a little electric drum kit for BBB and had lots of fun clicking his drumsticks together. I would say Ally was almost 90% bass guitar, and was great at it.

Mariqueen was fucking spectacular. Vocal haters can suck a bag of dicks, because she didn't miss a note.

The Space In Between remix had almost no connection to the original other than the lyrics, as far as I could tell. A lot of songs were even better live. I hope there's a cool document of these versions eventually. Tracks from the original EP were improved a lot -- and sort of modified to fit the WO style. Believers was very different too, only BBB and A Drowning were relatively untouched as far as I could tell. And as we saw in the teaser vid, The Loop Closes got a very prominent disco beat under it that made it more fun to dance to live.

Again, great show. The optical illusion visuals were amazing. People where I stood gasped in shock when they thought the stage was moving towards them. And then even when they realized it was a trick, they gasped again when they moved back. So fucking cool.

Looking forward to Vegas.

It was an alright performance. The visuals were neat but it felt like they really took away from the performance and band energy. That said, the songs that had minimal visual distractions were really nice and worked. There were a hand full of songs that did not seem to translate well at all live. Overall, it wasn't bad though.

Also, it was nice seeing Gary Numan and Josh Freese swing by to see their first show.

They went on at 10 last night and it was over just before 11:30. So just assume its 90 minutes or so from start time.

Well for Coachella, they get an hour. The main set was pretty much an hour on the dot, so I expect that to be performed tomorrow and the other friday for the fest. And Im sure security will vary at some venues. I wouldnt expect the people at The Pearl for example to be totally forgiving, its vegas afterall. Probably NY with the Appolo cause its seated too, and you got gaurds walking up and down the aisle.

I apologize if this is a repeat, I haven't had a chance to catch up on the entire thread yet.

Arrived about 5pm, had to beat traffic out of San Diego, and ended up being fourth in line for the pre-sale line. It went fairly smooth, other than the TM will call people that were trying to trick security to letting them in with/before us, but thankfully the people controlling the pre-sale set them straight.

There were only 100 show posters, apparently there will be 6 rotating designs during the course of the tour. 40 were signed and $55 as reported above, with the remaining 60 being unsigned and costing $25.

Got a place dead center on the rail. DIIV went on at 9pm, and I really enjoyed it. I did not enjoy the idiot to my right that kept telling his two friends how terrible he thought DIIV was after each song.

HTDA took the stage at 10pm. The white lights during TWU were so intense that my eyes were watering, it was staring into a supernova. I recommend polarized shades for that song. Mariqueen was definitely tearing up when she sang Ice Age, my friend agreed with me. Rob looked a little stiff throughout the show, probably just first show jitters/anxiety. Hopefully he loosens up a bit and enjoys himself more as the tour goes on. Annoying girls screaming out "Trent Reznor" and "I love you Trent" were the worst part of the show.

Did any one else notice the guy by the soundbooth that looked like Robin? Or am I mistaken?

I was front and center (friend of the guy who hated on DIIV the entire time they were up there, LOL) and it was cool but after seeing videos from further away, the visuals are much better if you stand back a little bit. If I go again I would try and be further back.

I'd like to know this as well.

Also, the more I think about it, with the way HTDA presents itself, it almost seems like you get more value from the concert by actually being further back. They are all hidden behind the screens anyway, so the focus is to actually enjoy the visuals with the music, while the band just does their thing in the background.

People ruined a lot of this show. Like, every time Trent did something, all I could hear was girls screaming.

I had an equal opportunity screamer near me... also got a few "I love you Mariqueen" and "I love you Atticus". I cringed during the first song when the screaming started once they figured out which shadowy figure on stage was TR, but the section near me shut up pretty much after that.

I was really impressed by the stage and the scrim like things on to which they were projecting the visuals... they looked like clear plastic rods hanging in layers; they could both move them across the stage and rotate them which would change the visuals projected on them (and the projectors were massive 2x2x5 boxes).

Also, if you were there by 4:30pm or so, even the non-presale line was like 10-15 people (went by them on my way to the presale line).

Well, the footage that will be streamed from the Coachella broadcast tonight will be HD, and professionally shot + mixed decently... should be an adequate alternative, and I'm sure somebody (and by that, I mean 50 or so people) will video cap it

We also gotta hope that someone in the ETS community will take the audio from the stream and maybe tweak some things and release a fantastic sounding torrent too.

That would be choice.

I got the boot that is up on dime, and man there is some idiots in the crowd. I cant wait to get some soundboard audio from this tour.

Anyways, The Believers was awesome, i really liked that version. And Parasite was choice too, i get a kick out of Trents pre-chorus "YEAAAHHHHH!!" in that one, and that openbody les paul hes playing is nicest guitar ive ever seen him on stage with. BBB is sweet, hell all the tracks off the first ep are awesome.

I remember back in the day when Trent hardly talked to the crowd and sung everything prettymuch by the book. Now hes joking with the crowd and all like "WHOOOOOOO!!!" all the time.

man i feel old

On behalf of TOIOU/RITC for our HTDA live video : If you shot anything at the concert, please email me : ppchevigny@filmssix.com
We are most specifically looking for higher quality footage (1080p minimum, shot with DSLRs or pro cameras), closeups if possible, to help us cover for angles we may have missed in Chicago. I think we'll refrain from using iPhone footage but you can still let us know if you shot anything.

We would need you to be able to upload the whole original, uncompressed data to your own DropBox account (or any hosting site for that matter) and then send me a link with your full contact info (name, address, email, telephone).

Does anyone know a 'suprefan' on youtube?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAsfY1tjgp8&list=UUJX5-3zZplexFf49rng5vMQ&index=18

This is their channel and one of their videos from the Pomona show.

If anyone knows how to reach her, please let us know (ppchevigny@filmssix.com) ! We're looking to have it donated in raw for the TOIOU project.
