Oh please, these are people who use Yahoo of all places for their celebrity gossip. They probably use combined shampoo and conditioner and think onesies are cute.

Other than the TV categories, I wonder how many times someone has won back to back years. There are so many variables when it comes to motion pictures.

I found this in the Huffington Post that the score is BAFTA nominated - is this right? I thought they hadn't been, but can't find the nomination list on the BAFTA site

Yes, checked other sites and they all say the same Inc the BBC

Just alot of miserable people that love to say miserable things. A quick look at other photos and comments shows much of the same. It is the way they entertain each other.

It seems Pitchfork actually kind of likes Trent nowadays.

People need to get over The Fragile, it's P4K's ONE bad review of NIN

I think that once Pitchfork realized Trent had better taste in music than they did, they got over their deliberate ignorance w/r/t NIN. (It was not just the shitty review of The Fragile.)

I'm really glad that the deluxe edition of Dragon Tattoo is selling so slowly.
Because I finally got the extra money together to buy it.
    All of the excitement.

After seeing the movie, I was surprised to find that, for me, the score works better on its own. I understand that a soundtrack should allow the film to breathe, but I felt that in this case the score was too subdued. Most of the featured tracks were played in very short versions, appart from a couple that were prominent throughout the film. Others didn't even make an appearance. Don't get me wrong, in most cases the music was a perfect fit, but I was a bit disappointed that a big part of it wasn't allowed to develop. Of course, maybe that's just the NIN fanboy talking, because the general consensus from people that don't know Reznor/Ross/NIN is that the music is notable and a significant part of the movie's atmosphere.

I'm not really surprised. You had to expect that John Williams would be there for both of his scores as well as Ludovic Bource who we all know is gonna win this year.

I think the fact that it's such a massive soundtrack to digest makes it less appealing for the academy. Also, let's not forget that TSN was somewhat the first of its kind for a score.
I personally think that most if not all tracks on TSN are pretty remarkable while I skip some of the tracks on this one.

they just get the For Your Consideration sampler though don't they ? They don't have to listen to the whole 39 track thing to vote. It's a weird BAFTA / Oscar about face

It's two discs, so still much longer than your average sampler, and more importantly the film has minimal awards momentum. Even so... no nomination? I don't think the music was mixed into the film as well as TSN's was, but even with NIN bias aside, I still think Dragon Tattoo's score was more characterful, emotive and interesting than the one nominee I've heard (The Artist).

I know I've mentioned this somewhere else, but unless I'm missing something major, Danny Elfman has never won an Oscar. And for at least a good ten years he was probably the only other film composer most people could name besides John Williams. I'm not saying that's how it should be, but I'm saying people tend to underestimate how wild Rezmo's wins last year were, because as a nin fan we tend to shrug and go, "Well, of course he's awesome."

Other random Oscarness: Howard Shore won for the first and third Lord of the Rings movies, but not The Two Towers.

Could it have something to do with this? I've heard that the Oscars are extremely political. . .
