They're back <3 Quit yer bickering about those stale bizkitz, 'cause these girls are bringing the next evolutionary step in nü-aesthetics. The dread from early Korn is here, without the overdone downtuned guitars and "tinny kick drums" (ok, I stole that quote from Justin Broadrick, shut up). DARK SiSTER clearly got the life.

I don't even remember how I discovered their Bandcamp years ago. Maybe it was ETS, maybe it was Twitter, beats me. The important thing is, the, as they call themselves, "NuMetal Priestesses of Kali" are here to stay. Boom, another Korn reference. I'm on a roll today.

Soundtracks For the Blind (the album after this one) is one of my favorite things ever, but this album is the perfect, doom-y precursor for what's to come..

I took it out for a spin last week. Really seems like something you have to sit down with, that can't be listened to while commuting/on the go. Demands attention. Lots of different styles on there. I feel like I need repeat listens because I wasn't quite sure how I felt coming away from it. It felt intensely personal.

It took me years to fully appreciate SFTB; even today, I find new things in it every time I listen. I wish I could go back and hear something like 'Volcano' or "Animus" for the very first time again. It's essentially their (at the time) 15 year existence, distilled across two discs, and feels like 50 different moods all happening at once. Unlike anything else out there, and just goddamn out there in general. To call it anything less than amazing would be a crime..
