Tom's not selling whine.
Tom's not selling whine.
RATM = Face Punchin Music
APC = Wine Sipping Music
Not that I don't love both....
It's been 20 years since this album came out and today it gets the remastered re-release. Picked up the vinyl version and it came with a free 12x12" promo poster flat.

RATM for Bonnaroo 2014!!!!
Rage Against the Machine Launch Countdown Website
And their plans somehow involve Public Enemy

Website is down at the moment. "Resource Limit Reached".
Here's the direct link: http://prophetsofrage.com/
Now people are thinking it is a supergroup with members of Rage and Public Enemy.

What started as an awesome rumor this morning (Rage reunion/tour with P.E.) has turned into this less than spectacular news.
I'd honestly have rather have Zach or nothing at all.
Fuck that I want either a new Rage album or a RATM/PE tour. I literally have no interest in another supergroup. Dammit!
Dammit Zach. What the fuck is wrong with you? First, you make an album with Trent that never went anywhere and now you're not going to do another thing with your boys?
I still don't know why the hell One Day as a Lion was abandoned. That shit was promising.
It is a supergroup, folks... no Zak though.
RATM guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk with Public Enemy’s Chuck D and Cypress Hill’s B-Real
Calling themselves Prophets of Rage
Kinda cool and kinda disappointing at the same time.
They need a good producer to bring them all together.
Someone should have called Trent up.
Massivly disappointing and not really all that cool.
You know it's going to sound like shit. We all know it. B Real and Chuck D are going to be stumbling all over each other.
We haven't even heard one note from them and you are calling it shit without giving it a proper chance or even knowing what it sounds like; relatively speaking it might sound closer to Rage, hence the name of the group, than Street Sweeper Social Club.
It just seems like your are disappointed that Zack isn't going to be on it and your calling it shit cause its all or nothing mentality, which is quite ridiculous. Obviously you're entitled to your opinion but I disagree with you and your hasty conclusion.
I can see it working with Chuck D but I'm no so sure about B Real being on it. I'll reserve judgement until we get the album.
nothing that any of the people involved has made over the past 10 or more years has been good. So this will not be good either. That's not hard to understand. And I say that as a devout fan of all 3 original groups.
SSSC sucked. Watching that shit live in '09 was embarrassing. I started coming later to the shows. Is the Nightwatchman stuff making you go crazy? No it's not. The last few artists Morello collabo'd with are Linkin Park, Cypress Hill, Anti-Flag & Knife Prty. LOL.
Cypress Hill started doing rock songs & appealing to the ICP strain of their fanbase. The hard-nosed delivery & DJ Muggs boom bap from back in the day is gone.
Chuck D is still the man, no doubt. But the last good P.E. record was in 1999 (Poison) and even that is up for debate. He Got Game back in '98 might really be it. That's almost 20 years.
So pardon me if i'm severely non-plused on this bullshit. Looks to me like a way for everyone involved to tour, headline a few festivals this summer and fall & make a bunch of quick $ as a result (i'd imagine they could all use it at this point). They clearly will be added to both Riot Fests, for example.
Then we have Zach, who obviously has some issues, whether they be personal or professional. Guy can't seem to get music out for some reason. But when he did get something out (ODaaL), it was awesome. We all wanted to hear more. But his issues have gotten in the way. But then fast forward 6 years and he finally gives us another verse (RtJ- Close Your Eyes) and he kills it again. My point is, Zach is the only one who I still trust to put out music despite his obvious hang-ups. If he's not involved with the rest of Rage, I have no interest.
As far as Rage songs being done live, I would really hope B Real & Chuck D wouldn't try & do Zach's lyrics. They can spit for sure, but I think that would just be weird & lame (Picturing Chuck doing Tire Me live is a hilarious mental image). This will prolly just be the Rage dudes bringing P.E. & Cypress tracks to life, along with whatever crap they all put together recently in the studio. It would be sweet to see Morello do the solo in Township Rebellion live though.
WHAT'S IT GONNA TAKE?!?!?

I don't care, I would watch Chuck D read the phone book on stage.
a lot of times, these supergroups just don't end up being too good
anyone heard of Primitive Race?
Primitive Race = created by Chris Kniker, and featuring Raymond Watts (PIG, KMFDM), Dave Ogilvie (Skinny Puppy), Mark Gemini Thwaite (Peter Murphy, Spear of Destiny, Tricky, Mob Research, The Mission, Gary Numan), Erie Loch (LUXT, Blownload, Exageist), Graham Crabb (Pop Will Eat Itself) and Kourtney Klein (Combichrist, Nitzer Ebb).
on paper, sounds fucking amazing... but the end result, ehh.
Prophets Of Rage need a great producer behind them to really set this off.
