This is interesting if true. Listed formats for The Cure's Songs of a Lost World include a CD/Blu-ray combo. 1 of the 22/23 shows being released?
"A guy I know works in a record shop shared this information of the formats which SOALW will be released."
Also, even if true, this is for Mexico. Other regions may get different formats.
We'll know for sure pretty soon. Thank you to the person who sent this.
Here's what The Tongue of Kai is hearing about formats. Obviously not confirmed, but we don't have much longer to wait until the official announcement.
"Normal edition LP. Double LP gatefold edition with some bonus tracks. CD and MC are available, too.
As for BluRay, maybe a Making of.../Behind the scenes like with the self-titled in 2004 plus bonus tracks.
So I heard, but cannot say anything about different editions for different countries. Also if there are multi-coloured vinyl editions, heard there's at least one special coloured one besides the standard black."
Werchter 1981 (FUCK ROBERT PALMER AND FUCK ROCK AND ROLL)
Olympia 1982 (I get goosebumps every time I hear the thing)
Glastonbury 1986
Yeah Olympia is amazing. It's the second video in my post above I believe. Not sure if I've come across the other two but I'll have to check those out. Thanks for the recs. I might even have Werchter on an old hard drive somewhere.
I'm not one to listen to bootleg shows typically, but some of these tapes I actually consider more essential than a few of the official releases. "Concert" for example. And even In Orange desperately needs a remaster. These tapes, especially the one's from the early 80's, even gain a little from that vintage tape drag. Matches the vibe perfectly. It's magic. Just found this Sydney 81' show recently. Melancholy soundtrack for the spooky season...

So how many albums do we have with the first song as the first single, or a single?
Three Imaginary Boys - 10:15 Saturday Night (released in France as a single)
The Head On The Door - In Between Days
Bloodflowers - Out Of This World (promo single)
Songs Of A Lost World - Alone
Wow. Less than I thought.
I also like how the title is reminiscent of Songs Of Faith And Devotion by Depeche Mode.
I wonder if a reworked version of A Boy I Never Knew will sneak its way onto this album? Certainly fits the theme.
I’m going to guess this, since Underneath The Stars originated as Uyea Sound from Lost Wishes.
Speaking of songs becoming other songs, the DE of Bloodflowers will be very intriguing when it’s ultimately released with all of the Lost Flowers and original demos etc. It was originally going to sound more like Coming Up, Possession and the original demo of Just Say Yes, until RS abandoned that idea and went with the Bloodflowers theme.

Omfg, there is a new Cure single coming out this week! What!? My brain is short circuiting over here.
And forget about singles, let's just take a moment to reflect on just how often The Cure deliver with their openers. It's insane. Honestly, other bands should be ashamed of themselves. Let's see, there's...
10:15 Saturday Night from Three Imaginary Boys
Boys Don't Cry from Boys Don't Cry
The Holy Hour from Faith
One Hundred Years from Pornography
Let's Go To Bed from Japanese Whispers
Shake Dog Shake from The Top
In Between Days from The Head on the Door
The Kiss from Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me
Plainsong from Disintegration
Open from Wish
Want from Wild Mood Swings
Out of This World from Bloodflowers
Lost from Self-titled
Underneath the Stars from 4:13 Dream
-And as a bonus, the live album Paris opens with probably the definitive version of The Figurehead. So fucking good, that track.
That only leaves out Seventeen Seconds on a technicality because it opens with a short, downtempo instrumental piece before going into motherfucking Play for Today. All those tracks are great and I don't think I've ever skipped a single one of them when listening to their respective albums in all these years.
So yeah, that's...13 out of 13 albums having superb openers. The Cure is batting a thousand in that department. In Robert Smith I trust!
So, to say I am excited for Thursday would be an understatement. Like, holy shit, how is it possible to have that many albums open with bangers?
Oh, and with those new single covers for alone, is anyone else getting a bit of a Faith vibe with the washed out greys? I mean maybe not everybody likes it but I dig it.
Very true! The only slightly meh one to me is Lost, but I still dig it.
Even for a very weak album like 4:13, he managed to have UTS as the opener. Impossible to have a bad opener apparently haha. Imagine if the rest of 4:13 stayed at the same quality level as its opening song.

I re listened to UTS during a hike I had this weekend and I'm amazed at what a beautiful song it is. It gives me goosebumps during certain parts. The biggest highlight of a very disappointing album.

Probably extra special since it comes from the Wish sessions (re-listen to Uyea Sound and you’ll hear its origins).
And yeah this greyscale artwork is reminding me of Faith, loving it!
I am reading a ton of reviews on Discogs in regards to the remastered vinyl reissue of the album Wish. A ton of comments refernce the album "not being recorded well" back when it was originally made... what's the story there?
I never thought the album sounded bad. Always quite enjoyed it.

Not sure what that is about, but sometimes the comments section on Discogs is like going to the Steve Hoffman forums (audiophiles). I mean, it has "Friday I'm In Love" which was a huge single for them and that song sounds fantastic. I wouldn't pay any attention to that. It is sometimes helpful to see if people are complaining about specific things on a particular vinyl pressing.
