I'm probably in the minority here but I thought Katy Perry was awesome at the halftime show. It was silly and entertaining with some cool production values while Missy Elliot stole the show. I miss Missy. I do tear up when I hear "Firework".
I refuse to believe there are people in the world who have the ability to dislike this song. Je refuse!
Also, Lady Gaga's "You and I" gives me chills and hits more feels than most rock bands do for me.
And I am EXTREMELY pleased with the way in which Miley Cyrus has grown up and branched out career/music-wise.
I love Icona Pop!
especially this song:

Selena Gomez has a new album: Target has a 16-track edition for like $16.99 which I'll have to buy, grrr #hatespecialeditionsbutmustbuy
her record got a four-star review in rs. i'll be checking it out.
Any great female vocal electro-pop released this year??
holy shit, kids. carly rae jepsen's new album emotion is SOOOOO fucking good! a blast from start to finish.
i've read about her here and haven't seeked her out. she has a collab with janelle monae, so i'm genuinely curious.
this is a good pop record IMO
Can we take a second to recognize how DECENT the new Justin Bieber songs have been? I'll Show You is really really good.
agreed. we have a sky thread here that i started after the record came out.
@richardp i'm still loving "what do you mean?". the year's biggest surprise for me.
Honestly all four songs have been incredibly surprising to me. Like, I doubt I'll BUY the album or anything, but it might actually get streamed a few times. Something I never thought would happen. I mean, you gotta give the kid credit. He's clearly trying to make something meaningful, and you can't fault him for it.
word.
10 characters.
This is good too...
Anyone here been to see Rihanna live and vouch for it being good? She's playing Cardiff with The Weeknd as guests, I've never been to a full on pop show when they're at the height of their fame (except U2 and the Pop tour). Anyway they're on sale next week so I'll do some Spotify listening this weekend to make a decision
New Grimes is pretty sweet although I would have preferred the mixing to be a little slicker. Venus Fly, Art Angels, Easily are the jams.
Fave song of the day:
I don't know if she's technically "pop" or not, but I'm seriously hooked on Meg Myers right now. I've watched some live videos and.....eh, probably wouldn't ever go to a show. But I'm hooked on a number of tracks on the album "Sorry".
anyone else see katy perry on snl last night? i've never been a fan, never really cared. her first performance, "swish swish," was really awesome. and i love the song, sounds like a house track from 1992. and the kid with the backpack was oddly hypnotizing.
I read from an article from Entertainment Weekly that part of the reason she cut her hair is that she was going through some personal things in the last few years and she was also upset over some of the political aspects of the world and some things relating to fame. In a way, she's kind of lashing out at herself. I didn't like the first single she did but I still like her stuff.
I also need to commend the guys at Loudwire when I listened to their rant on Linkin Park as they were not dismissive towards pop music as they admit to liking Beyonce and Adele and said some positive things about their music. They also trashed on Linkin Park for not doing anything new to the pop realm with their new record.
OK it's summer, so pop:
Love me some Sia.
Been also discovering Grimes' Art Angels, great stuff, surprised it took me so long to get into this album:
Neon Jungle. Sadly this band has already split up:
Zara Larsson. I like this song, despite its blatant Rihanna-isms, but can't get into the rest of the album.
really excited to hear kesha's new album. love the two tracks that have been released.
some of my recent, and not so recent, pop faves:
