    Thanks! IG link → https://www.instagram.com/dfa1979/

They're 2 pics short of completing a 3x3 grid. I won't spoil the picture, except to say, it doesn't categorically say "new album", although I agree that's most likely.

It was 3 years between The Physical World and Outrage, and it's been 3 years now since Outrage came out, so I'm optimistic a new album is getting released or at least announced this week.

I'm sure that's what they're building to but I was naively hoping we'd at least get an announcement once the full image was up. I signed up for their mailing list though.

I did. It's a robot reciting lyrics to a new song. No music playing or anything, just lyrics.

Seems to be lyrics to a new song titled "1+1". I'm guessing maybe a valentines day release from them?

I messaged Seb and told him I call a couple times a day hoping the song will play. He said, “Maybe one day the song will play!”

The little snippets sound more electro than previous work and I’m up for that.

Love it. There was a signed version on their US site earlier and now its completely gone. Could they have sold them all already? It was gone within an hour I think, but they seem to still be available from the Canadian site.

it doesn’t really. But is somehow fun AF. This record is gonna have a much different tone than Outrage! I think. That’s a hard one to follow up.

To be honest, I was expecting a little more after a 4 year break. Hopefully they expand a little more on this new record because if this single is any indication of what we will get, I am not that excited for this.

So they're back to being Death From Above 1979 and not just Death From Above?

Good call, I didn't notice that at first. Yeah, I wonder why that is. I thought that much like Ghost dropping the "B.C." from their name, they dropped the "1979" and were going by just "Death From Above" from now on.

I believe they tested the waters on it. They weren’t given “permission” to do it.

That was my guess as well. I wonder if they were threatened with legal action or if a cease & desist was issued or something.

    From their wiki:

On June 6, 2017, the band announced an official name change back to the original "Death from Above".[18] Although the band has said their social media handles will keep the "1979" suffix, all future music and shows from the duo will reportedly arrive under the new name.[7][8] Grainger said in an interview that the band decided to not include the "1979" suffix on a tour promo for their tour with the Eagles of Death Metal in early 2016, "just to see what would happen" and the band received no legal issues because of it which led to them doing it again on their tour promo with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and once again there were no legal repercussions.[19]

They probably just realized how annoying changing your name in the middle of your career is when it comes to streaming services and digital stores. Lots of times, streaming services won't let you alter a release after the fact. So now your music is stuck on 2 different artist pages, one for Death From Above and one for Death From Above 1979. I think they realized it was just stupid to change their name and only makes it more confusion for new listeners in finding their music.
