So before the 4 shows at the Opera House here in Sydney later in May, Moz is doing a book signing on his birthday here as well for his Autobiography (May 22).
I met Moz today at the book signing of Autobiography in Sydney.
Me: "I now have a family because of you."
Moz: "Why are you surprised? It happens all the time."
I also asked him to please play Ammunition live, my favourite Moz song. Never played live before!
He dedicated it to my fiancé and daughter:
That's so cool

San Francisco International Airport - true-to-you.net
29 July 2015
On leaving the US on 27 July I flew from San Francisco International Airport to London on flight BA 284.
At 2:30 in the afternoon I went through the usual airport security procedure including the stand-up 'scanner', and all was well - no bleeps and nothing unusual.
Before I could gather my belongings from the usual array of trays I was approached by an "airport security officer" who stopped me, crouched before me and groped my penis and testicles. He quickly moved away as an older "airport security officer" approached.
The officer who sexually assaulted me was identified as the General Manager On Duty. Luckily I was accompanied by two members of British Airways Special Services, who were horrified at the sexual attack and suggested that I lodge a complaint. I asked if there would be any point in lodging a complaint since, as with any complaint against a figure in "authority", the complaints are simply collected in order to protect the guilty officer should the matter go further. The British Airways Special Services employees assured me that a complaint was worthwhile, and so I filed the appropriate information. However, before doing so, the guilty "officer" was confronted, and the conversation went thus:
You have just sexually groped this man.
Officer: That's just your opinion.
What you have done is illegal.
Officer: That's just your opinion.
You have no right to do what you have just done.
Officer: That's just your opinion.
Apart from "that's just your opinion", he would not comment, even though, since the penis and testicles were mine and no one else's, then my opinion must surely havesome meaning. But, of course, what the airport security officer was saying was: your opinion will never count in the eyes of the law. The words "that's just your opinion" volunteered themselves from this 'officer's' mouth before he had even heard the question. He knew he could be confronted, but he also knew that he could never be challenged (even though the entire incident is most certainly on CCTV camera).
In the interests of imperishable bureaucracy my submitted complaint against this 'officer' will obviously be either unread or ignored because, as we all know, on matters of officialism it is not possible to be pleasantly surprised by anything at all. However, what is clear is that, should you find yourself traveling through San Francisco International Airport, you should expect sexual abuse from the so-called 'security officers' who, we are unconvincingly warned, are acting only for our security.
Do people have minds?

Live debut of My Dearest Love in Sydney -
Cancer diagnosis talk:
Last night Moz played Let The Right One Slip In for the second time ever live (first time was back in 1992), he joked after the song that it was big in Sweden (referencing that vampire movie Let The Right One In), and also sound checked Oboe Concerto which hasn't been played live yet.
Tonight, he played no Smiths songs whatsoever, including Meat Is Murder, which hasn't been done in god knows how long!
TTY: Morrissey's novel ”List of the Lost” out in September
Morrissey's novel - true-to-you.net
22 August 2015
Morrissey's first novel, List of the Lost, will be published by Penguin Books (UK) at the end of September. The book will be issued in softcover/paperback as a New Fiction title, and comes almost two years after Morrissey's very successful Autobiography publication of October 2013.
Penguin Books will confirm an on sale date within this coming week. List of the Lost will be available in the UK, Ireland, Australia, India, New Zealand and South Africa
The cover is an athlete called Earl Young:
The original could be a Smiths cover. Also at first I thought that was a young Moz, but I don't think he was ever much of a sport-er.
Live debut of Oboe Concerto.
All of the first disc of WPINOYB has now been played live. From the second disc, Scandinavia, One of our Own and Art-hounds have been done live. Just missing Drag The River, Forgive Someone and Julie In The Weeds.
Any hardcore Smiths/Morrissey fans need to check out the recent 2015 edition of The Never Heard Symphonies.
Skylarker at Morrissey-Solo has put together 20 something volumes of all rare edits, radio recordings, unreleased tracks, all Smiths songs done solo live, etc, and uploaded them all in this thread. You'll see banter from me in there too.
The most recent ones start at the last post at the bottom of this page and go from there:

Oh that's much smaller than I expected. Still though, has he ever tossed around the idea of a Never Heard Symphonies Essentials mix? Maybe just like 4-5 discs of the stuff everybody needs to hear?

17 September 2015Hammersmith Statement
Morrissey has commented:
"There is absolutely no way that we can generate any interest from record labels in the United Kingdom, therefore the imminent two nights at Hammersmith are likely to be our final ever UK shows. We are obsessively grateful for all interest and loyalty from our audience ... throughout 28 years ... but without new releases, there is no point in any additional touring. Thank you for so many absolutely incredible times. The pleasure and privilege is mine ... "
Ughh. You don't need new material to go on tour when you have an extensive back catalog of songs that don't get played live as it is.
Having been a fan of The Smiths I finally got around to giving Morrissey's solo work a proper listen this year. Viva Hate and Kill Uncle took some time to grow on me but now I think they're excellent and I might even prefer them over The Smiths' albums. One thing I don't understand: why the hate for Kill Uncle ?
Because the production is kind of bizarre, the songs "Asian Rut" and "Mute Witness" were interpreted at the time as mocking Asians and the disabled, and some of the other songs like "King Leer" and "The Harsh Truth of The Camera Eye" are considered uncharacteristically poorly written/executed. It's a fairly underrated album that lots of hardcore fans like, but those are some of the reasons it's disliked. Also, arriving in between two of the best albums he ever made made it look a little more anemic.
I actually like it better than Maladjusted.
No problem. I hope you'll check out Vauxhall And I, which I think is his crowning achievement. Such a beautiful little album and one I like more than anything from The Smiths' catalog.

Late to the party, but I saw Johnny Marr last night and he kicked arse. I'm really liking his solo songs, but he did some cracking covers as well, obviously some Smiths ones but "Crash" by the Primitives was a highlight.
@Ryan , would you mind editing this thread's title to add '/ Johnny Marr'? I guess it makes more sense to put him in here than in a new thread. I'll edit the A-Z article in anticipation, but if you disagree, let me know. Ta
