It's like the goddamn Wild West out here.
Even if it was loaded, it was still holstered. By the time you make a move to reach for your gun, you most likely have a bullet in your head.
There is a very good chance it wouldn't play out that way if the criminal was dumb enough to try that on a possibly loaded gun. Someone who open carries has a great big "I am following the law perfectly" sign on them because of how much attention they get from cops. I'm willing to bet the criminal only did this because he knew it wouldn't be loaded.
I mean, I get it, the headline is funny. It's just that this is usually how the scenario will always play out when you put an armed criminal against a person with a known unloaded gun. It's actually a decent demonstration of how gun control only impacts law abiding citizens. The only reason we don't see this happen more is because most criminals aren't aware of the unloaded open carry requirements in their area.

Canada's Difficult Relationship With Long Guns
http://www.theatlantic.com/internati...g-guns/381789/
I couldn't stop laughing at this article...
I always wonder what the point is of posting the occasional news stories where a bad guy shot some good guys.
To add some balance, here are some instances of defensive gun use that were published just in the last 24hrs....
Sacramento CA, Suspect shot by homeowner during home invasion

Sonora CA, guy shut by owner during attempted burglary

DeKalb County GA, Homeowner shoots robbery suspect

I just posted one.
Yup, I saw it.
Why did the teenager do that, wow?
That's what I wonder. Where did he get that REALLY EXPENSIVE gun, but mostly what drove him to do something like THAT???

Look at your entitled self deciding which humans are of more importance than others.
Here are the articles published since my last post.

Thank god three people had guns to save someone from stealing their belongings.
In the meantime, father shoots himself and kills his 9 month old son while cleaning gun.
Look at my entitled self deciding that babies' lives are more valuable than having the opportunity to stop someone from robbing your house.
I should be ashamed of myself. I am gonna go sit in the corner for a while.
Insurance will get you a new TV. I think there's an exclusion for babies in your insurance policy.
You are either intentionally dense, or incredibly naive. Both are very possible considering your position. There is a lot more than a TV going missing that happens when someone breaks into your house, especially when the occupant is home when it happens.
You've now moved on from intentional gun usage to accidents. There are things in this world that have MUCH higher accidental death rates than guns... like cars... and pools. Rational people dont try to restrict ownership of those things either.
3 month baby old shoots man in the head

comparing guns to anything else except maybe missiles or grenades is ridiculous.... Cars, pools, and pretty much everything else's main use isn't to kill something.. Even knives.. The main purpose of a firearm is to kill something or do great bodily harm. Even if your using it as a deterrent, the thing that is effective in the equation of deterrence is the fear of death or great bodily harm.
for every gun packing granny successfully defending her tv (and props to granny) how many idiots accidently shoot themselves or someone and how many assholes intentionally shoot someone? Perhaps even comparing the two (accidental & intentional) doesn't really get you anywhere... Anywho, with all issues of gun violence and accidents I feel that stupidity, carelessness and the ease of access to obtain one are the 3 main factors... Sensible gun laws are the only answer, doing nothing only continues the current trend.. Pew pew...
That's not entirely true; lots of guns are for sport like target practice or hunting.
And we already have lots and lots of sensible gun laws; but we have to improve gun education, and educate people about properly locking up their guns so their kids can't steal them, etc.

I... no... The world thinks Americans are paranoid, thinking that step 1 is give up your unregistered/illegal guns.... step 2 is government kicks in your front door and enslaves you
But, the invisible gun virus can infect my home! (they seriously said this in the justfication)
The fear is real maaan
A new gun control video has been released. It actually encourages kids to steal their parents guns, load it into their backpack (possibly loaded), bring it to school, then put it on their teachers desk.
the fuck?! I have a feeling this one is going to get a lot of attention very soon. The person who made it seems to legitimately believe in the video.
Been a while since I've posted here.
Anyways, I keep hearing that "guns don't kill people", "people do".
On that note ..
Policeman's gun discharge, accidentally hits bystander.
"An Albuquerque police officer accidentally shot an innocent bystander when his weapon discharged as he climbed through a window during a burglary investigation."
*edit*
It actually gets better. Dogs shoot people too.
I guess for every bad dog with a gun, we need a good dog with a gun.

Dear youth of the USA (or anywhere, really),
DO NOT STEAL YOUR PARENTS' GUNS AND TRY TO TURN THEM IN TO YOUR TEACHERS. Seriously, there's so many things wrong with that.
