I have no clue why they would put a live track in the middle of the studio stuff but whatever I will buy it either way.
The best of : I don't I mind the one-cd edition. But a 2-cd edition? COME ON! All three albums can actually fit on 2 CD! I'm sure I'm going to buy By and Down alone.
The boxset : I almost bought it the second it was annonced, but at 150$ (+30$ shipping), I questionned the decision. I love A Perfect Circle, I would love a to have a special smaller boxset with the 5 cds for 50$. But this is too much.
I am one of the few (I believe/hope there is somebody else here also) that loves Thirteenth Step more than Mer de Noms. Beside Hollow, Judith and Orestes, I don't quite care about the rest... but it's not bad. I prefer the mood of 13th Step. Well, no, it's more than that... 13th Step is probably the only album that after 10 years, I still strongly enjoy it as much as the first times I listened to it. Of course I don't care about Crimes and Lullaby.
Well... at least we finally get a studio version of By and Down.
If anyone has a waffles account, there's an interesting new (old) Perfect Circle record on there.
Edit: And Phoenix, I'm with you. Thirteenth Step is by far my favorite record MJK's ever put out.
To quote Malechite in an IM conversation from this morning:
A Perfect Circle released a greatest hits album in 2000. It was called "Mer de Noms"
What are we going to see first - a new Tool album, a new APC album, Half Life 3, or the collapse of western society itself? Cast your bets, people!
#MDNdemos....
For those without a waffles account...can I get PM please? Thanks!
This is the kind of shit the band should be releasing if they cared about their fans.
And to respond to something from earlier, yes, $150 for 4 cds and a dvd (a dvd! in 2013!) is a cash grab.
I really love the demos for Thomas and Brena.
Can someone without a waffles account get some love?
PM beggars - wait for someone to post that they have it, and they will share it with you. Until then, DISCUSS, not beg.
Being a Billy Howerdel fanboy I love that his vocals are more towards the front in Brena. I can't lie I squealed.
It wouldn't allow me to click LIKE on both of your posts fast enough In case anyones wondering...

Billy's part in The Hollow has been my favorite part of that song forever bar none.

I have hear the Orestes demo with just billy on vocals/guitar which came on the Judith Import CD, but I have not heard the MDN demos. I have been an avid collector all rarities/live boots for over 10 years now an I have never stumbled across this. Thanks!
Edit: It is most definately unmixed, blaring it through my stereo right now and it def needs some mixing an mastering lol

100 bucks says that the live version of By and Down is as much better than the studio version as Vacant was better than Passive.

So don't we have something really interesting to talk about now instead of lame gh records?
What does everyone think?
It's pretty awesome but when I heard "MDN Demos" I thought of more tracks like the Orestes "demo" from the Judith single, which got me really excited.
Guess I have my own expectations to blame.
The Brena demo sounds sadder than the album version. Can't place my finger on why that is, but I really like it.
are these demos or rough/early album mixes?
like, are the recorded parts more or less the same, with different edits?
and Army has been kicking about for ages yeah?
i saw someone mention this CD on Reddit the other day, in the thread about the gs!be demo tape. cool that they posted it.
Yeah rough/early album mixes is definitely more accurate, but the disc itself is actually labeled as "demos unmixed" to cause as much confusion as possible.
To be honest it could be both. The band could have been using an almost completed mix as a demo to shop around for record labels.
Who knows for sure and I doubt Maynard and Billy are going to say anything about it. So we will probably never know.
