I think 40 tracks is enough for this recreation. I think I am finalized.

Totally NewB to remix, but here is my take on How long? http://indaba.us/q895
Tambourine fans unite!
anyone willin to make some instrumentals for the masses?
Here we go.

No original tracks were used in this track. Just the vocals. Everything is yours truly.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed recreating it.

I really dont understand the way this contest works. I cant figure out how to vote or to be voted for. ive had mine up for a week and i only have 100 listens. and not to be a jerk, but theres a lot of really poopy remixes up there that seem like people are just goofing around that are getting promoted hard as HOT tracks. I dont really get it.
Voting starts after the submission period. So the voting period will take place between May 29 and June 12. After that they will pick a winner and announce it "on or about" June 26.
With a place like Indaba I think you have to be prepared for a lot of "bedroom-producers" making dubstep tracks.
Is your wub strong enough?
There are two parts to this contest:
1) Grand prize winner ($500). This is the remix selected by HTDA and is not supposed to have anything to do with the voting. Instead, they are going to grade each submission on the four criteria I had mentioned earlier. My guess is they will have an intern assigned to go through all the tracks and filter it down to a high quality selection which they will then score.
2) Runner-Up(s) (Indaba pro for a year). This is based on popular vote. The top ten vote getters will be be reviewed, also by HDTA I think, and they will select three to be runner-up winners, who will receive a pro subscription to Indaba for a year.
It's also possible that the 10 from (2) will end up being the tracks under consideration for (1), but I'd like to think they actually have at least one person listen to all of them. I think they recognize that online popularity contests are not the best way to find the top quality submissions.
Here are my instrumental mixes in glorious 24/48 flac http://ul.to/f/it9mlj obviously i made them for you, not for contest

I made another one.

Submitted!
I went with a stripped down acoustic version with alternating vocals. Enjoy.

I really hope you're right about that being as i have roughly 10 plays total(if that) on each one of these
anyway, i'd really appreciate people listening to these and giving me some feedback on them
On The Wing (n30fr05t remix) (i was going for something that the average listener wouldn't really notice the difference, but would like more; very subtle changes)
How Long? (n30fr05t remix) (an orchestral remix using just string quartet and the vocals, along with some environmental sounds)
and hope you enjoy listening

Turns out i had the time to remix a track so i chose 'How Long?'

Hosting a remix on soundcloud/other is allowed only if you own the material you worked on.
If it includes copyrighted material you do not own, you won't be able to. That's what i read in the rules.
If it's true and you can't host a track even if you own the material you worked on, can i have a link to the official statement.
The way I read it, if you used any of the stems (which you have to for it to be a valid entry), you now have included copyrighted material you don't own, thus the rule applies.
Also, from the terms:
So you assign away all rights to the work. I doubt, however, that anyone will actually try to stop you from re-using your own works created for the remix (aside from the stems) should it not be selected.By entering this Contest, Entrants assign away and transfer (as set forth below) any and all rights in the Remixes on a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable and royalty-free basis, for any and all purposes including, but not limited to, display, public performance, posting for streaming and/or download, making of derivative works, reproduction, distribution, and all other means of exploitation of the Remixes. Entrants agree that the Artist, or a designee of Artist, shall, from inception, own all right, title and interest in each Remix (including, but not limited to, the copyrights in the sound recording) in perpetuity, free from any claims by Entrant or any other person and all such works shall be deemed "works made for hire" for the Artist or such designee. Entrants shall have no ownership rights or interest whatsoever in the applicable Remix, and shall not commercially use or exploit the Remix in any manner whatsoever. Entrant is permitted to use the Audio Assets solely for the creation of Submission Materials and Remixes and participation in this Contest.
Added another! This time it's a gameboy chiptune remix of Strings and Attractors.

Hi everyone !
Here's an orchestral remix by a friend, it's awesome Enjoy !
http://indaba.us/cCf6
i'll be uploading an edited version of my Strings and Attractors remix soon
just wanted to emphasize that I would greatly appreciate getting some feedback
i have spent at least 12 hours plus on each individual remix (probably a lot more, but to be honest i lost count)
so, if you could take the time to listen to them i would really appreciate it
here it is
my Strings and Attractors remix:
Strings and Attractors (n30fr05t remix)
hope you listen to it and enjoy it
it's kind of jarring and uncomfortable, honestly. if that's what you were going for, then ok. but i didn't really enjoy listening to it.
(i'm really not trying to be a jerk. just being 100% honest. i understand your frustration with wanting people to listen to and enjoy your music. i make music. i have several albums, most of which are free to download, and i can't even get my friends to listen to them. but you're making remixes of other people's work, and there are SO MANY other people doing that, so it's not surprising you're not getting that many plays.)
How many hours is it until the contest closes? Do I still have time to enter? I couldn't work on the remix for weeks, but I'm getting back on track.
EDIT: Eight hours left. I just finished my remix and am uploading it right now. I'm so excited to share it with you guys!

Voting time! I've made a handy collection of ETS user submissions so you can easily vote for all of us If I missed one of yours, let me know the shortcut indaba url and I'll add it to the list.
You have to use Facebook to vote though...
