@kleiner352 That's right. The Wall is preventing the Walkers from crossing because it's so freaking huge. And the Night's Watch is guarding it too. By the way: poor Edd; he's got his job cut out for him.
Possible major spoiler for the end of season 6 Spoiler: In the books, the only thing that could bring down the Wall is a famous Horn being blown into. Mance had that Horn before being defeated by Stannis. This part did not make it into the series. However, Euron Greyjoy also has a great big Horn which is yet to be seen and, according to a "leaked" script, when he blows it in the final episode, it does bring the Wall down, thus allowing the Night King's army to pass.
Somehow I forgot about Bran the Builder and was thinking of the magic horn thing that's supposed to knock it down.
also, I'm not the only one who thinks that the seer in the tree (Max Von Sydow character) is old Bran?
Well, once again they've managed to rip my fucking heart out.
Am I the only one that gets more sad and angry when they kill the dire wolves? STOP DOING THAT. For fuck's sake, would it kill the writers to let JUST ONE go down with a good fight?!
I am as pissed and angry at Summer dying (I did call his name out loud when it happened) as I am at Hodor's death. Only two direwolves left: Ghost who is probably marching up to Winterfell alongside Jon and Nymeria, who became nameless and joined a pack of killer wolves, just like her owner A Girl Formerly Known As Arya.
I want Ghost to eat Ramsay. Slowly.

Yea, I found the death of Summer to be quite cheap... there was really no reason for it. The Dire Wolves are held to high praise in the show about how strong and mighty they are, but they are always walloped so dam easily. This is definitely one of the saddest episodes yet for the show, and the way it was written was very very good.
What seemed kind of silly to me was when the spear was thrown at one of the White Walkers. Besides Valyrian steel, Dragons Glass is one of the resources that can kill a White Walker, so I am assuming that is what they were using as points for their spears since it took one down so easily. But why would it not kill the walkers when one of the Children tried to stab them? Or did I see that scene wrong?? Why would they not be using Dragon Glass?
For me it was really strange how quickly and suddenly they revealed the origin of the White Walkers. It was kind of a "blink and you will miss it" moment, which is very unexpected for such a big reveal. But other than that, really good episode. And one of the saddest moments of the series so far.
Not sure how I feel about this new direction
if Brienne and Tormund don't fuck this season, I'll be sadder about that than anything else that's happened
Actually, that's not correct. The magical barrier is brought up Spoiler: by Coldhands in the books; it's the reason he can't follow Sam and Gilly through the Black Gate. But it's unclear whether or not the CotF helped place it. Bran the Builder had a meeting with them about it but the outcome was never revealed. So, it could be that the magical barrier would still stand despite the NK's handprint.
The last remaining cache of dragon glass was buried at the Fist of the First Men. The only reason Meera had any was because Sam gave some of that cache to her, Jojen, Hodor and Bran when they left the Nightfort. There were a bunch of spears at the entrance to the cave so assuming they all had dragon glass heads, the reason the Children didn't kill the WW was because they weren't using one of those spears. Or something like that.
Staying away from all the spoilers has been a fucking nightmare. Got one more left to Season 3.
The red wedding scene was batshit insane.
I can't be the only person upset by this weird paradox that was created, right?

... Why? Hodor is a loop. That's his character. End. No paradox.
Watched the Spanish overdubbed version earlier. They did a great job with the translation for the final scene, changing the phrase to "keep it closed." Very curious about how it's being changed for other language overdubs.
In my language it was "walk well, hold the door", where the "walk well" part was transformed into Hodor. So pretty lame and meaningless.
Pretty much my feelings towards both Bran and George R.R. Martin at this point:
Finally got caught up on the show.
I never read the books, but my brother did and he claims that the book material is mostly covered at this point and now the show is basically on its own now....is that right?
If so, I'm impressed that they've managed to hold up the quality for the most part. The idea of them writing the show without the books as a guide kinda made me nervous at first, but I actually think this season is better than last season. That goofy sand sister shit was so flat and stupid. This season seems better so far, if only because none of that shit is happening anymore.
I still think Ramsey is a hilariously awful character. In a show that's supposed to be all about high-quality writing and complex characterization, Ramsey is like a villain from some straight-to-DVD horror movie. He is a boring, flat, one dimensional character, and basically every single scene with him serves no purpose except to emphasize to us all, for the 700th time, what a cartoonishly evil dude he is. From his first introduction into the show, where we spent a whole goddamn season watching his pointless torture porn nonsense with Theon, all the way to now, this guy has never done anything remotely thought provoking.
Joffrey was a psychopath that actually served a more interesting purpose in the story, because he was given an enormous amount of power through his birthright, but he was fucking crazy, so it was interesting to watch how everyone around him tried to deal with him, like tyrion, tywin, cersei, margorey, etc. Joffrey himself wasn't particularly interesting, but watching the ppl around react to him was good. But Ramsey doesn't really have those same social dynamics around him, which is why his existence seems so pointless and boring. The guy just sucks in every way. Wish they'd hurry and put that shit to rest.
