I hope this is the original Top Gear (UK). I enjoyed the episode when they decided to come to the States and drive the Blue Ridge Parkway. If they only phoned ahead, we could have told them the speed limit's here suck!
Indeed it is. 2:01 in.
WOW REPLICA, those are pretty strong words. The Vietnam special might be the peak of the whole show, for me.
All cars should have no doors.
Good, not great (although it probably contained two immediate favorite scenes from the entire series for me). Driving in India sounds like a nightmare, period but night driving looks especially hellish.
I thought it was awful. Minimal entertainment (and actually quite cringe-inducing), not much of a travelogue, photography wasn't the show's best work, and very little said about the cars. It's disappointing given that last year's two specials were great in my opinion, and the three-~£10k-"bargains" format can produce some great material, as in the episode where they bought a Lamborghini Urraco, Maserati Merak and Ferrari 308gt4.
I haven't been able to watch the India special, I'll have to see if Hulu or iTunes has it available.
Sneak peek of season 18, which premieres on the 29th.
Another peek at the new season (or series as the Brits call it), featuring James and Jeremy explaining what the gang will be up to this time around.
Tonight's episode was a solid 10, and miles away from the problematic India special. Got my fingers crossed the rest of the season will be able to match up.
Agreed... slightly cringe-inducing dirty jokes aside, that was a tremendously well-done episode. Even enjoyed the SIARPC segment for once. The way they conveyed the sense of speed on the racetrack at the end was amazing, they felt even faster than F1 and GT racing broadcasts. And the photography even managed the daunting task of making the Noble look like a premium product and the Aventador not look like a disappointment (12C still looked dull though IMO, and who specifies that car without satnav or lifting kit?).
Jeremy Clarkson is a bit annoying to me. I would be happy if the show was just The Stig doing hotlaps.
If Jeremy was hosting the show by himself, I'd probably have gotten tired of it pretty quickly. The chemistry between him and the two others is what has always kept me glued.
Some segments of Jeremy can get old after a while. I do however like his commentary during the hotlaps.
Still love the show but it's getting really long in the tooth now. For years people have complained about scripted bits in their adventures but dear god it's gotten bad on occasion.
Still one of the most enjoyable hours of TV around though. Really enjoy watching old ones on Netflix even though I've seen them multiple times. (Even if they do edit good segments in some cases.)
Hammond's new show for BBC America premieres next month, following the stateside premiere of Season 18. The first episode of which was really fucking stellar.
So happy for the hamster.
Apart from the Christmas special this December, the show won't be back until next year. 8:14 into this video, but Jeremy also talked about it on his Twitter. Him and James have accounts now, so if they update those regularly, it MIGHT hold me over until then...
The next season won't start until January, but coming soon there's a one-off special hosted by Hammond about the cars featured in the James Bond movies.
All signs (via the guys' Twitter accounts) are pointing to the three guys filming a big road trip across America right now.
In case anyone cares
