66 years young today. Still holding out hope to see him live one more time before he hangs it up for good.
NEW SONGS! From the tribute album to Blind Willie Johnson.
Another new track over at the album's official site.
Found these recent photos of Tom on reddit. Had to share them
^^^ he looks like Doctor Jacoby!
Starting next month, Tom's entire ANTI- discography (1999 - present) is being remastered, LP/CD preorders available here.
Sucks they're not reissuing the older, harder to find albums on vinyl, like Rain Dogs and Frank's Wild Years. Actually just bought Mule Variations and Blood Money recently (Bone Machine too, but that's not part of these reissues)
I was fortunate enough to find a few albums at a local Sunrise Records for fairly cheap...
Alongside the other vinyl re-releases in two days, Tom has announced a new remixed version of Real Gone.

i ended up pre-ordering blood money/alice/real gone from amazon (although alice was listed as "temporarily out of stock") because they were so much cheaper. i thought we always knew real gone was going to be "remixed" (which i correctly assumed just meant they did a better/different mix of the album rather than a remix album haha) as that was how it was listed on his store website (remixed & remastered)
Not only has Real Gone been remixed, but there seems to have been some tinkering with some of the remastered material. Table Top Joe has trombone added to it.
Anyone know what the likelihood of getting some of the older albums reissued on vinyl is, in terms of record label hold ups, licensing, etc.? While it's nice that they reissued the albums they did, none of them were exactly difficult to get prior, while some of the older ones are very rare.
Preorders up for the Elektra era catalog on remastered vinyl, starting with Closing Time. Oh hell yes.
Happy I'll now take the plunge on Nighthawks and Small Change. Two favourites but I never see them around and I end up buying other stuff when I use Discogs.
Gotta wonder if some of the longer albums will get expanded into double LPs. It gets really bad around the Rain Dogs period, which itself has a 28-minute side B. Assuming Waits had the remastering done to improve on things, maybe it'll happen.
finally listening to this re-mixed and remastered vinyl and it sounds great. the new horns in "hoist that rag" really threw me off at first, but i think i like them? it's so odd to have a new element to a song you've been listening to for almost 15 years but the generally less muffled sound of the whole album is fantastic.
Rumor is Bawlers, Brawlers, and Bastards will be released individually on vinyl for RSD2018
Maybe later on, but it wasn't mentioned on the list my friend sent me (not sure where he got it from):
Bastards (180 Gram, Grey Vinyl) (RSD 2018 Exclusive)
Bawlers (180 Gram, Translucent Blue Vinyl) (RSD 2018 Exclusive)
Brawlers (180 Gram, Translucent RedVinyl) (RSD 2018 Exclusive)
Can't wait till it's time for Bone Machine. It's my favorite (and stereotypically so) album from Waits.
