Yeah, i just had a 2 hour fucking battle with quiet trying to non lethal her... Dodging her sudden one hit kill, cross map attack... Jesus, is it really supposed to take that long, did i do something wrong?

There's an easier way that's a bit outside of the box.
Spoiler: mark her, then call for a supply drop. Have it land on her, twice.
Unlocked the first Africa quest last night. Trying to get a transportation specialist first though. Once I get that, I'll finally be able to Fulton just about everything.
I did enjoy that tense Quiet fight though. I have to say this is definitely my favorite of the series. The pesky cutscenes are over, i no longer feel like my hands are tied by weird controls or strange mechanics. The story seems to stand on its own, although i know im missing major lore references. Whatever, im having fun, which is more than i can say for other games in the series.
The next three missions say "recommended weapon: missile" but i dont think i have one of those, and it doesnt appear to be a developement project. Any thoughts?
For one, c4 will do. Used an air strike on another. Had one situation where I left my horse in the middle of the road, took out a couple of guards, snuck behind a tank and used c4. I don't have a rocket launcher yet, so I had to improvise.
I have the strategy guide and I was looking through it and came across a certain mission which is hidden and only playable after the game if you meet certain criteria. I thought that was typically normal but then it wouldn't tell you anything about the secret mission at the request of Kojima. That's when I got super curious and googled it...I ruined the secret ending for myself only being 6 missions in. Damn me and my curiosity
I'm about 8 hours into the game, making sure to take my time with everything because I have come to terms with this game probably consuming the next few months for me. All I can really say about it is that it is incredible. The amount of detail that went into this game is amazing and I am having a blast experiencing it. Kojima goes out with a bang.
Gonna avoid this thread now.....don't need any spoilers.
I've already put in over 20 hours... Feel like I've missed a lot of stuff (tapes, specialists, etc). Doing a ton of side ops. Way more than the main ops. Last mission I did was for the gunsmith. Hopefully that helps me get the nonlethal rifle for quiet.
This game is looooooooong. Ive been doing all the side ops except target practice. Just got to africa... Im on like mission 13? And there are 46... Wtf
A looot of fluff though. Even with what arduous fast travel systems are in place takes quite a while to get between missions.
Game has some excellent ideas about war economies, pows... Wish it would flesh it out more and wish it was driven by characters i could connect to

Tried doing the bear side op. I give up... I've probably done way more side ops than main. Just having a blast and wasting time. The skulls are insane. Has anyone killed one?
This game is huge. I've spent a week and a bit now fiddling around with it and am a whopping 5% in. This both fills me with dread and glee. And thats not to say I haven't done much. My mother base has a few extra platforms, I've researched enough stuff so I have a badass stealth suit, I've painted everything pink, put unicorns on stuff and renamed my army as the 'Naked Island' holiday resort, and played about 9 story missions...
I'm starting to think I won't have enough time to actually finish this...
Don't know if anyone is that far (I know I sure as hell am not) but I guess there risks of your save becoming corrupted if you use Quiet as a buddy on Missions 29 or 42 according to Konami and that is affecting all consoles and PC's. Just thought I'd pass that along hopefully Konami patches that up soon!
Once you complete a mission or side op you can jump straight into the ACC to bypass the stupid extraction wait times.
Just go into the menu and select return to ACC. you don't have to worry about losing progress as long as the mission has been complete and you do not need to get my out of enemy territory.
Stuck on the Spoiler: code talker mission . Is there another way to develop something without having to find a blueprint? Or finding the non lethal rifle for Quiet?
So apparently this game was pushed out the door before it was even finished. There's a video floating around on YouTube featuring storyboards and a "30% complete" cutscene for Episode 51 (the finished product, as it stands, has only 50 episodes). Without Episode 51, there's a story arc within the game that leaves a HUGE dangling thread for which we otherwise don't see a conclusion.
A few people who own the PC version of the Phantom Pain managed to datamine the game's files and discovered textures for the Boss (who we don't see in the final game), a notable amount of VA recorded by Keifer Sutherland that ultimately goes unheard/unused, assets for Camp Omega (which Kojima had originally stated would be revisited for those who played Ground Zeroes) and a splash image for a 3rd chapter called "Peace". The finished game only features two chapters (with the 2nd featuring a significant amount of replays of earlier missions that have no basis in moving the plot forward themselves) meaning that a huge chunk of the story was definitely cut out.
No idea how they could cut that mission. Looks like I'm stuck. Finished mission 42, and I'm not sure what else to do. Does a ton of time need to go by before for things happen? Kinda slow...
Sorry for the ad, but this video is hilarious.
Hopefully Konami could rectify this with the missing 8 gigs of data for Metal Gear online when it comes out in October.
I know this is extremely unlikely to happen and all signs point to a possible dlc expansion.
My reason for this is that supposedly the game was going to be 28 gigs but at launch I only downloaded 20 gigs from steam.
From what I understand, there was supposed to be a mission 51 AND a chapter 3. At the very least, they should've finished 51 since it was already in progress and has a huge significance to the overall story. Maybe it'll be released later. But, I'm kinda doubting that. Why would they hold something back for dlc, then release a video on what the mission would have been? Maybe this is what caused the rift between Konami and Kojima? Because by chapter 2, there's a radical shift in how the game progresses. Kinda seems like Kojima wasn't able to finish the game like he may have wanted to.
Yeah that makes sense.
I haven't finished the game but I'm close to the end.
I just need to finish a few more missions on extreme difficulty.
Its just me being a bit optimistic that maybe it will be finished and released either as an update or as an add-on.
Seeing how things went down with Konami its seems extremely unlikely that it will be finished.
What I don't understand is that they could have included what was cut as a cut-scene at the least.
Konami must of had enough of kojima to not let him finish.
Then again its easy to blame Konami without knowing exactly how something so integral to the story was cut.
I'd be fine if it wasn't playable. Even if it's just one big cutscene, it still should've been included. This game is incomplete. The way they pad it to make it last longer in chapter 2. Personally, I'd have been fine with a shorter length. Grinding side ops gets kinda repetitive. The story parts in chapter 2 is great and on par with the first. But because of how repetitive the game gets, and how clear it becomes that it's incomplete. Not sure how people can give this a perfect score. Still deserves a good score. Just not a 10. 8.5 at best
Edit:
Just hit mission 45. It's a doozy.

Just finished the game. The spoilers being told to me didn't do it justice. I stand by my word that the second "half" of the game is what holds the game back. It could've been a 10. Story-wise, and how it's all fleshed out actually kinda works.
Spoiler: the parasites, a precursor to nanomachines? Huey is a monster. And I'm gonna miss Quiet. Guess I'll have to delete my save and start from scratch in order to do anything with her again?
