optional pants hahaha
Tool, Chance the Rapper, Childish Gambino headlining Gov Ball.
i LOVED them when they came to ME and lasted one long day.
I loved Lolla and Smokin Grooves in the 90s and went to as many as i could. Like in 97 the Lolla headliners were Tool, Prodigy and Snoop. Also Failure, James, The Black Eyed Peas (when they were still cool,) Tricky and more. One Smokin Grooves i saw had PUBLIC FUCKING ENEMY, Cypress Hill, Wyclef Jean, Busta Rhymes and the whole Flipmode Squad, Gang Starr, and more.
IDK why they don't do touring festivals anymore because they were so fucking awesome.
You could see an INSANE lineup, you didn't have to travel, you didn't have to camp, there weren't a million fucking people there, etc.
I'd rather have my own and lose the friend, (it's funny because that sounds like a coke whore statement, I was a former coke whore). I just thought of another reason why I hate festivals, I am opposed to all direct sunlight (no vampmo). I just hate having any color in my skin. Also at night all you see is multi colored scaffolding. You guys go I'll watch it on youtube, with my free weed my porn and no pants.
this line up looks so strange to me with tool on top. i dunno why tool wont just play a nyc date thats not a festival
Exactly. They got offered an absurd amount more to play this shitty festival than they would make for their own headline gig. And Tool is strictly about the money.
no. more like 3 or probably 4 nights. MSG is a monster to rent out, and a festival gig reduces the overhead dramatically for that gig for the headliner compared to their own headline dates. And festivals make an absolute killing when u factor the higher levels of VIP pricing, and 3 days of food & alcohol vending, plus merch. All those vendors have to pay to be there, in addition to the fest promoter taking a cut of everything sold. A successful festival is a massive windfall for the promoter, and they can throw absurd amounts of $ at the headliners as such. It's worth it in most cases bc of the long publicity reach the name value that alot of headliners afford the promoter for the festival.
For all my PNW people, B.C.'s Pemberton Fest has been cancelled. Oh, and organizers declared bankruptcy so no refunds either. Daaaaamn.
Not entirely surprised. This year was the worst leading up to the drop of the lineup. They should have just taken a year off and came back for next year with a better lineup. Their social media is a joke as well. Sucks that all the festivals in BC keep getting axed. Such a beautiful place to host a festival, yet every festival here seems to be cursed.
They deleted their twitter and instagram, apparently.
That's hilarious. Like, grade-A hilarious.
While that's true people can still get chargebacks through their cardholders and contact their bank if it was through debit. The fact that this incredibly cringey, poorly-managed festival that delayed their lineup a million times and rambled on social media about "making it as fire as possible, fam" ended up releasing a really, really underwhelming lineup and then cancelled three weeks later is, bare minimum, a shitshow, and from a distance it's pretty funny. If laughing about Fyre fest was fine, I'm not going to lose much sleep over this.
What a bunch of schemers. They probably knew this festival was going to shit the bed, yet still took people's money most likely knowing damn well they would have to file.
Yep, some people (hopefully many) will be able to dispute the charge. Kind of a pain in the ass though and not sure if they'll be able to get anything back if the transaction already went through and these tools are all shut down for business.
Here's a fact sheet from the Bankruptcy company:
http://documentcentre.eycan.com/eycm...ct%20Sheet.pdf
Key points:
Their estimated cost of operations were 22 million and to date they only had generated 8.2 mil in ticket revenue.
What's even more interesting here is it notes the prior 3 years ticket sales and revenue.
Average Ticket Sales (Per Day) ------ Ticket Sales Revenue
2014: 17,700--------------------------------------$5,759,300
2015: 25,151--------------------------------------$10,329,200
2016: 38,423--------------------------------------$15,230,800
I'm shocked that 2014's was the worst. That year was amazing. The lineup was really stacked. That was the year NIN played. Guess I shouldn't be too surprised, The festival grounds were pretty deserted that year. We walked up maybe 30 mins before NIN was to go on and got front row against the gate.

Hmmmm, I guess since Lollapalooza basically sells out prior to any acts even being announced now they're relaxed on their radius clauses now. Look at this:
The Killers
August 2, 2017: The Rave- Milwaukee, WI
August 4, 2017: Lollapalooza- Chicago, IL
Lollapalooza 2017.
Raining and hailing and storms today and tomorrow, but ... NO UMBRELLAS ALLOWED!
Wtf.
I was at Lolla yesterday (Friday) fortunately the weather was absolutely perfect. Phantogram and The Killers were very good.
watched Cloud Nothings on the Lolla stream today. Still so good. Love those dudes. Gonna try and catch Wax Motif, Borgore & DVBBS tomorrow.
This is old news but i caught Tyler, the Creator's live stream from Panorama on youtube today and good gawd, it was fucking GREAT.
He's like a different fucking artist and i love it. He's growing up before our eyes i think.
I posted this in the David Lynch thread and thought it deserved more audience for others may (or may not) be interested?
I am a long time fan of Lynch's work
and found this just recently:
https://festivalofdisruption.com
after finding out about this festival, im delved into reading into the Lynch Foundation.
https://www.davidlynchfoundation.org/upcoming-events.html
the particular fund raising purpose for this show is tied in with PTSD (being a veteran myself, and knowing other veteran's who suffer from PTSD)
i want to know more about this ambient therapy i read on the foundation website:
"... DLF, dedicated to eradicating post-traumatic stress and trauma in at-risk populations through the evidence-based Transcendental Meditation technique..."
Does anyone know what this 'DLF' is?
I am intrigued and considering making the trip to see this, though the only tickets still available are pretty steep..
anyone else interested, or already going..?
