So how do you guys feel about this "cancel culture letter," from Harper's ?
I honestly sort of agreed with it.
I get it that problematic people cosigned it, but so did some people I REALLY respect, like Noam Chomsky.
And I certainly didn't take issue with what the letter SAID: I mean, to me, it's saying "let's just SORT of remember to not have an Orwellian Nightmare, here, guys? Like, please, and thank you?"

, Shane Dawson is one of the most well known, revered, prolific, oldest, richest YouTubers of all time. He's been doing it since '08.
I guess I just don't care -- no, I know I just don't care about YouTube shit like this. It's just shit, it's spawned nothing but shit. I use YouTube for stuff like how to change the water pump on my washing machine, or how to make a landscaping path in my yard made of gravel, or how to know if there's a disease on my hydrangeas. NOT these fucking asshole attention whores, whom I think need to be launched into outer space. I hate them all.
Really, just jettison fucking everything except music videos by actual artists and stuff like this (yes, I actually use stuff like this all the time, I actually replaced a water pump on my old washer):
Same. I used several videos to take my washer all the way apart - like even the transmission because it decided to start leaking halfway through the maintenance - and it still works all these months later.

oh, don't get me wrong.
I DO NOT watch these people's videos. Why would I be watching make-up tutorials? I'm aware of some of these people, though, from the early days of the platform.
I watch a lot of documentaries and such on YouTube, and music videos, and, more pertinent to this situation, the news.
I saw this on the actual news.
And, so, I dug a bit deeper, and, yeah: it's reasonably entertaining tabloid level shit, to find out about it, which created a nice break from the actual news.
So, it’s like every verified magnate except Trump?
it is odd that it appears to have only affected the "good" guys.
though this is also shades of the hacking in 2016 where the DNC and RNC were both hacked but only the DNC suffered a fallout while suddenly all of the RNC people are happy to go to bat for Russia now.
County Attorney Pete Orput said the investigation of the two “was in the works well before” Derek Chauvin was charged with Floyd’s death in late May.Orput said state Department of Revenue officials contacted his office in June with what they found, and “they were sending [Chauvin] letters last year” about no returns being filed, “and they got no response.” Then, when Derek Chauvin came under worldwide attention for his role in Floyd’s killing, revenue officials “read the guy’s name and realize this is their guy,” Orput said. The county attorney called the Chauvins’ tax troubles “run of the mill, but it just happens to be the [police officer] sitting in Oak Park [Heights prison]. … The guy owes us money, and I want to collect. I don’t care about his other problems.”
