Converge
I know other than Clavius (if he's back on the new shiny ETS) and a few others besides myself are the only Converge fans in here, but for the few, and in case anyone hears anything before I do (rare...I talk to Jake often and nerd out over this band, but still)...I thought I'd start a thread.
Start with the news that a new album is dropping next year, and in about a week I'll be at this rager. What a serious lineup.
-
Converge fan reporting for duty.
-
Their live shows are intense, but I find their albums somewhat boring.
-
Any album in particular or just in general?
Also, the official eStore put up a ton of new shirts about a week ago, mostly of vintage designs, Petitioning The Empty Sky, etc. Good stuff, but I had to hold out when Jake told me that the Seattle show next Friday is going to have exclusive one-off stuff for sale.
-
jesus fucking christ the lineup to that Seattle show!!!
-
Add me to the list of CONVERGE fans. Love love love this band.
-
Ppl post setlists. Can't wait to see how they shred on the upcoming shows.
-
Totally forgot to post after the Seattle show a few days ago. Anways, 6 bands makes for a long ass show. Heiress was great, Black Breath ALWAYS kills it (go download their album 'Heavy Breathing' right now) and Converge KILLED it. Got to hang out with Nate and Jake for about half an hour before the show and talk the new album, which they're 'knee deep in'...expect to hear something about it very soon apparently. Shirts were only for the show, $10 and prints for $15. Print wasn't by Jake, just a local artist...white skull in blurry light grey with bands, date, city at the bottom. Still worth it.
Setlist opened with Concubine, and if you know how fucking small El Corazon is (....it's fucking hella small) you'd know how much the floor opened up and the stage diving was rockin'...every 10 seconds someone was flyin', crowdwalkin'...it was insane. Dark Horse killed it. John Pettibone came back out for 'Cutter' which was a highlight for me. They ended with Last Light of course which everyone loved. Good night. Next tour summer/fall 2012 if all goes according to plan.
-
they are everything right about aggressive music. only way this band could be better is if Jake's barking was more intelligible.
-
-
The official eStore has the 3 limited edition shirts that were at last week's two shows.
-
"All We Love We Leave Behind" - 2012 via Epitaph/Deathwish
Suddenly the shirt I bought at the Seattle show that has that on the back makes sense.
-
i wish i had $ to buy one of those shirts
-
Converge have an exclusive shirt design that will give 100% of proceeds to battling breast cancer. Details here
Pretty sick design, and with shipping mine came to $21 so not that bad and for a great cause.
-
My Shirts For A Cure shirt came in! Pretty sick. Also, someone is shooting a mini documentary on Jacob's printing process and artwork. The first picture of shooting nearly made me shit myself.
-
From Turbonegros Facebook-Page: "Report from the studio: so far Nate from Converge and Andrew WK have laid down tracks on what is rumored to be the best Turbo record ever."
-
Converge fan here, and proud of it. I've seen them twice and have the You Fail Me poster on my wall. Don't listen to them often anymore, only because I devoured their discography over and over. I'm patiently waiting the new material, as I'm a fan of different parts of all their stuff.
And that pug drumming to "Axe To Fall" is incredible.

Vocals for 12 songs now completed, around 17 expected for the album.
Gettin' fucking puuumped.
-
Jacob's new 4 print series 'Faith' just dropped, it's nice but I'm going to hold out for the individually embellished Jane Doe prints he's releasing soon. Also, on Kurt's Facebook page there's a clip of like 5 seconds of some new stuff...with uhh, a friendly dog in the video. Lastly:
-
Four songs left before the album is finished...
-
@Convergecult Last night of vocal recording, here we come. We will try and upload photos later.
O SNAP.
-
@Convergecult Vocals are done. Goodnight.
-
I watched Jacob Bannon try to break up a fight at the American Nightmare reunion show in Boston.
-
Setlist for the latest tour dates opens with Jane Doe and includes 2-3 new tracks. God dammit.
Oh fuck I found video.

Fucking ace.
I got Jane Doe on vinyl the other week, pretty much just to have that art work on a bigger scale. Beautiful.
-
-
does anyone have more chaotic shows? i doubt it. at least, anyone with real talent. i disqualify bullshit like Daughters or The Locust.
-
All I know is that this is the song they played in Seattle when my rib got dislocated. They usually open with it but are now ending shows with it.
