That Metal Show (Eddie Trunk) mentioned Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden and the topic of co-headlining on tonight's show.

I was unpacking a box of books and sorting which ones to donate when I found this inside a travel book to Madrid:

It seems I stuck it in there so it wouldn't get lost and then I forgot about it for seven years.

So you won't mind sending it to me for safe keeping for 7 years then?

On Jay Mohr's podcast, Dave Mustaine name-dropped Trent as someone screwed around by an Australian promoter that caused some problems for him and Megadeth recently.

Is that AJ Maddah again? Why would Dave Mustaine have a feud with Jason Newstead anyway?

I was looking for this on google and found an older one from last year where he name-drops Trent again in the
last minute relating to the Grammys - he said when NIN won a Grammy in best metal category (I imagine although he didn't specify) Trent said 'this is Dave's award', hmm would that have been when they won for Happiness in Slavery?

I looked it up and that would make sense as Countdown to Extinction was nominated that year. My favourite Megadeth is still Rust in Peace but that one is still up there - and I love Trent's remix of Symphony of Destruction

Every time I hear what Dave Mustaine has to say about anything, lately, I become less inclined to listen to Megadeth. It's too bad, because I really like most of their catalog. More on topic, I guess: Yeah, the SOD remix is boss.

For what it's worth, it's a good interview. He didn't come off as crazy as I'd feared.

This is probably unimportant, but I saw an ART IS RESISTANCE banner on a rotating ad on shocklee.com

    Here's a screencap:

Was listening to CBS News radio in the morning while getting ready, as I have done for the past 20 years or more, when I was astonished to hear Came Back Haunted and Black Hole Sun.. and an ad for the Jones Beach and Holmdel shows. Guess they've figured out their aging demographic.

If PHM came out in 1989, shouldn't they be eligible this year?

Maybe because it was late 1989, it's before the induction ceremony?

No, that's not it. Google tells me Bleach came out in June 1989 and Nirvana is getting inducted next month.

Found it... Nirvana released a single in 1988. That is why they are eligible.

So yeah. NIN becomes eligible this year for induction next year. Makes sense now.

I should just send that to people who ask why I like NIN so much.

Heh, I have one like that too signed by that lineup, but mine has all the UK dates on it. It's just sitting on a bookcase right now.

It's a rather old post on gearslutz, but in thread about people who worked with Michael Jackson, Engineer Rob Hoffman talks about his experience working with the man:
One morning MJ came in with a new song he had written overnight. We called in a guitar player, and Michael sang every note of every chord to him. "here's the first chord first note, second note, third note. Here's the second chord first note, second note, third note", etc., etc. We then witnessed him giving the most heartfelt and profound vocal performance, live in the control room through an SM57.

He would sing us an entire string arrangement, every part. Steve Porcaro once told me he witnessed MJ doing that with the string section in the room. Had it all in his head, harmony and everything. Not just little eight bar loop ideas. he would actually sing the entire arrangement into a micro-cassette recorder complete with stops and fills.

    ...

His beatboxing was without parallel, and his time was ridiculous.

His sense of harmony was incredible. Never a bad note, no tuning, even his breathing was perfectly in time.

    ...

He got one of the first playstations from sony in his lounge . . . we snuck in late at night to play the games that hadn't been released yet.

A couple people on the session hadn't seen Jurassic Park while it was out, so MJ arranged a private screening for us at Sony.

He was a huge fan of Nine Inch Nails Downward Spiral . . . .

He mentioned Saul Williams! That probably doesn't mean anything, but I hope they do something together again. Saul is one of my favorite rappers. And also Death Grips collaborations? That sounds awesome.

I was at a poetry reading Saul did about 2 years ago and I asked him about that. He said there isn't anything planned .
