I'm doing a watch of everything Star Trek. Made it through TOS, TAS, TNG, the first run movies and just finished S3 of DS9. If I can finish DS9 I am over the hump. I'm also doing Lower Decks with DS9 because it's so easy to get through 20 mins.

Rewatching it all has shown me that Garak is the best character on the show. I'd put Improbable Cause & The Die Is Cast two-parter right up there with The Best of Both Worlds without hesitation.

I want Paramount to get David Cronenberg to develop a Star Trek movie set in Discovery's future.

I was happy with the Prodigy finale. Good arc that never ran out of steam. Turned out to be a really good show, better than what I was expecting. I really liked the callbacks and Easter eggs, and they didn't seem forced either. Great to have Kate Mulgrew back as Janeway too.

Watched the first episode of Picard season 3 last night--tertific.

This does seem like a soft-reboot of the show. It feels like season 1 ended with Picard and his new crew about to start new adventures, only for the writers to be like, "nah, lets wrap this up in season 2 and then have a de facto TNG season 8 for season 3." It does seem like a course correction, which is a shame as I liked where they were going. Why introduce all these new characters only to do nothing with them? (like the terrific Rios).

Still, the first episode of season 3 is great. I'm glad they kept Jerry Ryan as 7 of 9. New captain of The Titan is a total dick, but provides a great foil for Picard/Riker. Great seeing Frakes and Stewart back together. The old magic is still there.

That was one of the best episodes of Star Trek I've ever seen. Instant classic

Discovery has been a punching bag with some fans, and some criticism is fair, namely the writing, but I am sad to hear that the show is ending. I really enjoyed season 4 and was looking forward to season 5. I did find it odd that Paramount+ didn't announce an airdate for season 5, but now I see why. They have to do additional filming, bumping up the date.

With both the end of Picard and Discovery, Strange New Worlds will be the only live-action show left.

Interesting theory from reddit that makes actually makes too much sense not to be true:

Makes sense. Those two have way too much history to fight like that.

This season is fantastic. It feels like TNG/DS9/Voy all coming together, but it works, it's not forced. I was thinking we would never know what became of the Founders/Dominion after DS9. It seemed lost. So glad they are bringing them back.

    NOW, WAIT A MINUTE!

Spoiler: Riker is not Will Riker, but Tom Riker?

    What do you think?

Yeah. I think it worked better that way.

As much as I love having Spoiler: the Changelings/Founders back, it makes me really miss René Auberjonois as Odo. It would have been great to have seen him reprise the role.

Here is the Den of Geek review of episode 5. Full of spoilers.

Great write-up, but I disagree that the Raffi/Worf storyline drags. I think it's great and the two have a wonderful chemistry together.

I never thought that character would return. Some of the best acting/dramatic scenes from any Trek show, rivaling Shatner/Collins from "The City on the Edge of Forever."

Season 3 of Strange New Worlds has started/is about to start.

I wish they would announce the airdate of season 2. It's been almost a year since the first season concluded.

    Episode 6--another great episode.

Some really great Easter eggs that weren't forced.

    Such as:

Spoiler: The Enterprise A, The Klingon Bird of Prey from Star Trek III and IV, The Defiant and Voyager.

This is by far the best serialized season from the Paramount+ era. Picard season 3 and Strange New Worlds season 1 are some of the best Trek I've ever seen.

A huge Easter egg/spoiler I missed that is HUGE!

Spoiler: Kirk's body is on the Daystrom station. Section 31 has him.

What the heck could this be all about?

I agree! Picard S3 has exceeded my expectations. The acting skills are on point and award winning, the story/plot is moving along well, and simply seeing everyone back together and working as a team to solve problems is priceless. 100% rating.

I wish DISCO had taken this approach, rather than making it a 'Michael Burnham saves the universe' show.
