I'm a bit skeptical but will give it a chance. Looks like they're trying to take the Rick & Morty route.
The visual style of that show reminds me of Final Space.
Discovery season 3 debuts 10/15.

Just watched the premiere of Lower Decks. I thought it was really funny and enjoyable.
Just saw the first episode of Lower Decks and would give it a 1.5/5. I found it to be mostly unfunny, with very few of the jokes landing. The characters were all one-one dimensional cliches, with the character Beckett Mariner particularly grating. If they wanted to make a sci-fi comedy cartoon for adults, they should had Seth MacFarlane write the show--his jokes usually land, he wrote some great stories for The Orville and he loves and understands Star Trek.
I know some people here have said they don't like RLM bc of their negativity & snark. Totally fair points. THIS video has none of that. Just their deep knowledge & love for TNG is on display here. Again I don't watch Trek really at all but I watches this whole video bc their takes on the show are still so entertaining.
I love the RLM guys. I watched that Star Trek video despite the fact that I hadn't seen most of the episodes they cover and the ones I had seen, I haven't seen in decades and barely remember. I may not always agree with their opinions, but their reviews are usually pretty spot on.
CBS will air season one of Discovery this fall, 9/24.

I've warmed up a little to Lower Decks. I still kind of think that a lot of the jokes don't land and it tries too hard, but it's grown on me. I sort of "get" the show a little more now and despite its flaws, it has an off-beat kind of charm.
New Discovery Season 3 trailer:
Yeah, i have kinda gotten into it now. i was VERY skeptical at first and almost threw in the towel a few minutes into the first episode. the pace and frantic nature of some of the characters was just a little overwhelming. but... now i'm mostly enjoying it. I once tried to watch an episode of Rick and Morty because everyone seemed to think it was amazing, but i couldn't take the fast-yelling dialogue and bouncing off the walls pacing of what i saw. i suppose i should give it another chance too.
RE the season 3 trailer for Disco... idk what to think. i'll watch it. i'm somewhat interested in the idea that they are out of place in time trying to explain what Star Fleet stands for and is all about while being part of a show that has been a little more action/soap-opera-drama than what i think Star Trek is all about and stands for. That said, i have found Discovery enjoyable to watch even if i don't hold it in the same esteem as some of the other series.
I like that season 3 is set 900 years in the future. Prequels are hard, tip-toeing around canon, especially when you already have established characters like Spock. Now Discovery has a blank canvas. Plus since it's set so far in the future from TNG/DS9/Voy, Picard and any other new shows/movies set during that time don't have to worry about contradicting events that happen in this season of Discovery.
Of all the new shows, I am most looking forward to seeing the adventures of Pike/Spock/Number 1 in Strange New Worlds. That show looks like it will be a lot of fun, less drab than Discovery/Picard, and it will be episodic too, not serialized, like old-school Trek.

With the exception of TOS, which really hit the ground running with the outstanding first season, which continued with season two before a drop in quality for season 3, all of the Star Trek series got better over time (although I liked season 1 better than season 2 of Discovery).
I really liked the later-day seasons of all the series. I actually really liked "A fisful of Datas," a really fun episode (and this was before the holodeck stories were done to death). I know some fans really didn't like Vic Fontane, but I had no problem with him or the episodes set in his casino. It was a little bit of levity in an otherwise dour/dramatic time for the show (the Dominion War) and I feel it worked well. Captain Proton I could do without, but there are only a few of those. I thought some of the best episodes were in seasons 6/7 of TNG/DS9/Voy, just really tight, well written stories. So it's a little bit surprising that the first season of Enterprise, which was was made right after, was relatively weak.
This is great.
^^^ hahaha! OMG!
Kate Mulgrew is coming back as Janeway but for the kiddy Nickelodeon Star Trek show called Prodigy.
Booooooooo.
I'm halfway into season 2 of Enterprise, not sure why I didn't get into it sooner. I had only watched a few episodes up until recently. I didn't realize the stories were this good. Sounds like season 3 turns into a serialized/long cold war story?
I can't help but wonder if DISCO S3 and Enterprise will be connected?
During the Enterprise series there are a lot of references to "900 years in the future" and time travelers from that period, and the Temporal War, and how the Suliban get their orders from a "red angel" like figure from 900 years in the future.
It makes perfect sense really, why else would they put Burnham 900 years into the future, if anything the DISCO story writers would have specifically avoided "900 years" if they didn't want to touch on this subject.
They should really blow our f'ing minds and re-cast the Enterprise actors (who haven't aged too much) for one DISCO episode where Burnham travels back to Archer days during the cold war.
