    It's a linguistic power law probability distribution that i came across and found interesting, where a word's frequency of appearance in literature is inversely proportional to its rank of commonality in a certain and precise way. In other words, THE is the most common word, the second word appears 1/2 as frequently as the first, the third word appears 1/3 as frequently as the first and so on.
    It's not some grammarian conspiracy...THAT I KNOW OF! DUM DUM DUM!
    And i think it's in the "little things that cheer you up" thread (for fuck's sake) because i thought it was cool.

    Also, A WHOLE HELL OF A LOT OF US related to and were moved by the personages we are discussing here. If i am to understand this thread correctly, it's why we are discussing them.

    Edit: and, goddamn, how are you so sure mel brooks is going to be dead soon. He could live another 10 years.
    Tell that to George Zipf.

    @botley you fucker

    edit: just to be clear, lest my colorful language be confused as some type of assholery, "you fucker" in this case means "you got me on that one. :P "

    Your candour is accepted, I do not object to your use of colourful metaphors.

    I'm sure Gene Wilder had an amazing sense of humor. I truly wish he had something like this written into his will:

    Bill Dunn was fucking awesome. I liked his small role in the Spider-Man trilogy as well as his role as the orderly who would help Harrison Ford in Regarding Henry.

    Both my biological Dad and my Stepdad were lifetime avid golfers, both really damned good at it. My paternal Grandmother never played golf ever in her entire life, but she LOVED Arnold Palmer. She'd watch golf on TV during my childhood: Lee Trevino, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, but Arnold was her man.

    When I heard the news that Palmer died, some part of me hoped that my Grandmother was harassing him for an autograph in the afterlife.
