Thought this was an interesting, if not terribly sad watch.
Thought this was an interesting, if not terribly sad watch.
My Air Traffic Controller husband and his ATC friends spent the last 24 hours analyzing, including talking with ATCs at John Wayne, and came up with this same conclusion described in detail below, that it was weather-related and the pilot basically flew into the terrain:

While senseless, at least it’s likely that nobody on board saw it coming and all died instantly.
My husband remembers working that helicopter quite frequently back when it was owned by the State of Illinois. It was a very nice helicopter and a mechanical problem isn’t likely.
Promoter Bill Graham and guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan died from the same cause.

Kirk Douglas dead at 103. Now that’s a good run.
That's one hell of a run, fair play and rest easy Kirk.
Kevin Conway
Luke Perry apparently left out of the Oscars "In Memoriam" last night. Messed up, esp. considering he was in Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.
Neither were Peggy Lipton and Tim Conway.
Larry Tesler, the guy who invented cut, copy and paste.
A legend. I used copy and paste for this post.
RIP, Larry.

Andrew Weatherall, music producer/DJ, notable for creating Primal Scream's "Loaded" among many other things. this one hurts for me as two of his produced albums are some of my favorites: Primal Scream's "Screamadelica" and One Dove's "Morning Dove White" .
RIP Andrew. Screamadelica is still 1 of my all time favorite records.
In news that will surprise no one, flat-Earther Mike "I Don't Believe In Gravity or Science" Hughes died when his homemade rocket smashed into the earth.
RIP David Roback - founding guitarist of Mazzy Star. He was 61.
James Lipton, "Inside the Actors Studio", 93 years old
I always loved Will Ferrel's impersonation of him on SNL
