he was incredible in Alien, and probably had the coolest name ever.
I was watching the making of Alien on the DVD set and Ridley Scott said that Kotto, already incredibly tall back then, was actually growing even taller during the production, forcing the set designers to make the spaceship doors bigger. I loved Scott's remark: "God bless him, he was evolving..."

I guess they finally got rid of the Seaward
(Just a joke reference, she was amazing)
Slam/street poet and actor muMs da Schemer, aka Craig Grant at 52.
You might know him from the documentary SlamNation where he was part of the Nuyorican Poetry Team they followed, (which included Saul Williams and co,) the first few seasons of Def Poetry Jam, or as Poet from HBO's Oz. He was also in some other TV shows, and movies including Birdman.
They say Saul Williams brought slam poetry to the masses with SlamNation. If that's true, muMs was right there with him, doing it too.

Damn. RIP DMX.
People are getting ahead of things.
I'm waiting for more of an official confirmation, I have no clue what SAINT is but they haven't elaborated on what they posted (they also seem to have deleted their tweet) and the IG post from Luenell was deleted.
This was also just posted by Luenell which sounds like she made her own declaration.
EDIT:
SAINT have posted a correction!

Rest in peace, Dark Man X.
He struggled between the dark and the light, and fought with addiction, for SO long.
At least he found some peace in the end. He was doing bible study on Instagram not too long ago.
Goddamn. God bless DMX.
Yeah I guess he’s technically not dead, yet, but false reports of his death are spreading everywhere.
He’s likely GONNA die but ...

Omg a couple of my friends were texting me about DMX last night, and I'm like hell no - there is no news source! Crazy.
Oh, no. I caught a video of DMX just a few days ago, where he talked about the Bible.

I just saw that!
They interrupted the basketball game to.announce his death, last night.
Crazy.
His family is supposed to make a statement today, which will LIKELY be that they're gonna take him off life support. But it could ALSO be that he regained some brain activity, and they're going to wait. There's no telling. Sometimes people's families leave them on life support for a LONG time. Brain function CAN spontaneously return, though it's pretty rare.
@wizfan , yeah, he had been preaching. I know life doesn't work like the movies, but I swear, it seems like he had finally found peace in his life, and had a deep personal understanding of god, and maybe that's what he was supposed to do before he left.

Ok now DMX has officially died.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/local...819_story.html
Official statement from X's family.
“We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50-years-old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days. Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end. He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him. Earl’s music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever," his family said in a statement. "We appreciate all of the love and support during this incredibly difficult time. Please respect our privacy as we grieve the loss of our brother, father, uncle and the man the world knew as DMX. We will share information about his memorial service once details are finalized.”

So sad to hear.
RIP
Incredibly sad. Addiction is a motherfucker. Wasn't he unknowingly given crack when he was like 13 or 14? Just so sad.
Damn. I've been listening to him for 23 years, and was honestly hoping for a miracle. He was always trying. Every album had a gospel song on it. He ended most of his shows with a prayer. He was in and out of jail, and on and off of drugs, and always struggling to get right. This one is sad for me.
He was doing bible study on IG live last year, and I even found a video of him preaching at an actual church.
Edit: don't get me wrong- I'm not saying that Christianity is the only way to get "right," but it seemed like X felt like it was. In his mind, God wanted him to be sober and law abiding, and the devil wanted him committing robberies and doing drugs, and they were fighting for his soul.

I'm weirdly saddened by his death. Not because I'm the biggest DMX fan, but so many of the artists I was used to hearing on the radio in the 90's seem to have lost their lives to drugs, alcohol, and depression. I have no idea what it is, but that generation just seems ill fated. I feel sorry that he apparently couldn't overcome his addictions, especially since addictions are frequently a way to deal with (or not deal with, I suppose would be more accurate) other, more significant and deep-rooted problems.
I stopped by the hospital on Friday after work. This definitely hit me once I got there. RIP DMX.
