I disagree with him, there are some pretty big differences between the candidates and to say most people wouldn't be able to notice the difference in day to day life is just ignorant. You would notice not being able to have an abortion, being denied aspects of healthcare, having trouble getting help with college fees, not being able to marry your partner, and so on. Maybe if you're an upper middle class journalist these things don't seem so apparent
Taibbi is often great, but that piece is shit: looks like a brain-fart from someone suffering from politics fatigue.
this little girl pretty much sums up how I'm feeling right about now
WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!?!?!?! http://voice4america.com/articles/20...#axzz2BUQF3Myd
On another note: I took my mom to vote in Illinois for the first time, today, and the NICEST people worked at her polling place.
Later, the husband and I went to our regular polling place, where THE SAME FUCKING ASSHOLE ELECTION VOLUNTEER PEOPLE were TOTAL DICKHEADS. Sourpuss Mean Man made me sign my name THREE TIMES, glaring at me like I'm carrying a fucking machine gun in my pocket trying to disturb the election process. "That doesn't look like your signature." Pissed, I said DO YOU WANT MY I.D.????? He shows my signatures to the young chick next to him, she says (almost with her eyes rolling) "it's fine." Then Mr Mean Man tells me to go to Section 19. I say "you could SMILE, you know?" He says, "no, not really." (in my head: HOW ABOUT IF I STICK MY BALLOT UP YOUR ASS???? Voting should be FUN, not like TSA security!!!) I start heading to where he told me and a woman runs over and yells "MA'AM! MA'AM! STEP BACK!" I say, "BUT HE TOLD ME TO GO THERE! YOU KNOW, I CAN WALK RIGHT OUT OF HERE AND NOT VOTE, IF THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT. IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT?" Woman, evidently realizing she needs to cut down on the Power and Caffeine Combo, says "oh no no, I want you to go exactly where he just told you."
Only the little old lady telling me how to insert my finished ballot into the machine was really nice.
AND WE DIDN'T EVEN GET A GOD DAMNED "I VOTED" STICKER.
Next time, I'm voting EARLY.

Yeah, I saw that about the voting machines, I'm sad at how unsurprised I was. There's been fishy business going on with those machines for the last few days. GRRRRRRR. In other news, I don't have any booze to drink for drowning my sorrows/celebrating. I keep getting stuck at home (on a mountain) while my dad goes about his business with the car. I might have to break into the long forgotten vodka bottle with an inch of dust on it in the cabinet...

Vermont's done, again. You're welcome.
G and I took great joy in voting NOT to retain any judges in Lake County.
Cool, I can start drinking then. I like my state!
edit: fun fact, i went to school with peter shumlin's daughter! Also, I'm drinking my patriotic drink of caipirinha, heh.

Okay where are the best sources of information for the results?
Huffington Post has a pretty clean layout, but I don't trust them as far as I could throw Arriana:

Youtube has a bunch of live channels going:

Indiana is for Romney, BUT the senate and governor's seat is up for grabs. Just watched a little Fox News, and O'Reilly is all but predicting an Obama victory now.
^^O'Reilly is calling Obama?
He didn't say it directly, but that's what I was feeling from his statements. He was surprised that the storm got more attention than Libya.
I think NPR has a live updating map. I've been trying to load it but my satellite internet has borked and won't load it. http://election2012.npr.org/results-map.html
Holy shit, Florida is so close.
Mourdock lost! Proud of my state. This will serve the GOP with kicking Lugar out and a sure win.
^ *Hi-fives*
Florida. Oh Florida.
I am worried (a bit).
CBS interviewing Axelrod at Obama HQ while everyone in the background behind him is hurriedly packing up and leaving. Hello?
Obama's owning the West Coast for the most part (Oregon's "too close to call"). California really feels like the money shot oddly enough.
Finally some decent election coverage. Make it so Patrick Stewart....make it so.
Everyone commenting how much everyone underestimated Obama's ground game. Called it!
Its over! Fuck off, Mittens!
FOX News' 'wtf' faces are fantastic.

oh man... this is fantastic. And now, to troll the Rush Limbaugh facebook page. Cry for me you fucking assholes... fucking weep.
