People actually go through and parse issues to explain why X is a valid take but Y really isn't. How can this not have rubbed off on these folks.
Yup, I feel the same way.

And I know I *shouldn't* be shocked, but I still am shocked by this stuff: http://www.buzzfeed.com/jpmoore/the-...-on-the-planet

    It's 2012, people!! Wtf.

I had a zen sense of calm within me today, and it wasn't just because the election was finally over but mostly, I think, because I had been experiencing some serious stress dealing with the possibility of women's rights being set back about 50 years.

And, I was happy that JOE WALSH LOST. Asshole. http://www.suntimes.com/news/marin/1...up-of-tea.html

So apparently Boehner's willing to play ball now? And possibly raise taxes? This should be interesting...

while I'm way too happy about Romney losing, I gotta say, Los Angeles, you guys fucked up so bad on the propositions.

We just voted against labeling our GMO food, and voted to force condoms into our porn. Since Burbank and San Bernadino are the porn capitals of the fucking world (we have nice weather to fuck in, even if it is in the valley), we've basically just kicked the porn industry out of the greater Los Angeles area... and in effect, probably out of the state of California.

I could grumble about how disappointed I am with people (who the fuck votes for condoms in porn anyway!?!?!?!), but at least Romney lost... so I can console myself with that. Still, come on California! Stupid stupid stupid!!

I wouldn't. They know they risks of what they're getting themselves into. If anything, they should test more often.

Should you have done what I did and listened to it until the very end (because I have a bit of fondness for the crazies) you would have learned that it was born on the 4th of July which means that it knows BEST about these political matters.

    That's what it pretends anyway.

Yeah, caught that one... and I'm still confused about how I managed to make that mistake. The whole thing is so ludicrous though, so it's hard for me to actually process any of it.

also, yes, it's sad that we voted to keep the death penalty.

"I have more hours to spend than most of you... I don't have children. I live alone".

    Least surprising statement of 2012.

Not to beat a dead horse, but this was highly amusing.

Maybe I should move on to RS thread now.

I'm actually pretty happy with the CA vote on condoms in porn: we force miners and construction workers to wear hard hats, so why not force porn performers to wear condoms? Safety on the workfloor has to begin somewhere. But apparently The Daily Mail shares Jinsai's concern. *grins*

But the self-testing that the industry does (at least every 28 days, and with some studios every 14 days) works. Since 2004, according to the NYT, HIV has never been transmitted on a U.S. heterosexual porn set.

And requiring condoms could actually cause problems. Will the industry then relax its extremely stringent testing requirements? Condoms do fail -- if they don't catch people with chlamydia early, it'll spread exponentially through the actors. Also, condoms aren't total protection against diseases like herpes and syphilis. Those STDs could be transmitted in greater numbers if testing requirements are relaxed. Not to mention the fact that porn stars fuck a lot, and for long periods, and "chafing" from all that condom friction actually makes women more susceptible to STD infection.

Call me cynical, but I really don't think the people who dreamed up this proposition care about the health and welfare of porn actors. They know it'll drive the industry out of the state -- win!!

Sure, it's a nice idea - but the industry won't comply with that bullshit. They're going to pack up their production and move somewhere else to film... California can say goodbye to any money they were getting before from that industry (which - although I may be wrong - was a sizable amount of profit for the state). This is a poor decision in a state that sorely needs any money it can get it's hands on.

There are also a couple of other factors mentioned above that make this decision bad/unnecessary, but I'll refrain from listing them. In my opinion, overall, it fixes nothing and takes away money from an already hurting economy in the state of California.

Finally looked up the Reverend Wright controversy. All I can say is really? Any 15 year old with a brain in high school comes to the same conclusions about America eventually. We're kind of an ass hole.......duh... And this is what the right was freaking out about so violently? I'm crying of laughter.

How dare he admit we used nuclear weapons, put people on camps, and experimented on our own people!

Anyways I just finally looked that up because the people in the video mentioned it.

Matt Taibbi listens to Rush the day after the election and is both fascinated and terrified.

"...the fact that so many Republicans this week think that all Hispanics care about is amnesty, all women want is abortions (and lots of them) and all teenagers want is to sit on their couches and smoke tons of weed legally, that tells you everything you need to know about the hopeless, anachronistic cluelessness of the modern Republican Party."

Even if it's satire, it's poorly written.
