This news makes me want to break everything in sight...
I at least wish they would just dish out all those Plastic Beach B-sides they're sitting on. Hell, they wouldn't even need to make a fancy package. Upload that shit to the site and sell it digitally.
But then again, he does only say that they're essentially over, and that there won't be any new material. Would B-sides from an album that came out 2 years ago count as "new material?" I know, I'm totally reaching here, but it really bites that we may never get to hear that entire song featured in Russel's Plastic Beach Ident video, and that the last song we heard from them was a one-off song done for Converse (It's an awesome song, don't get me wrong. But that shouldn't be the last project from...well, any band).
I'd rather have and keep Gorillaz going over both Blur and Dr. Dee combined. I'd also love those Plastic Beach b-sides too!
Yeah this is awful. Such a downer. There's chatter on the line that it has something to do with a falling out between Damon and Jamie.
I would love a P-Sides album. At one point there was a song called Sloped Tropics, which sounds like I need to hear it NOW.
Yeah, it's a huge bummer and a lame way to go out. We had 'em for ten years, though, and the output was pretty much excellent across the board, so I can't get too worn down over it. Albarn makes music every day, by law of averages, some of it has to end up being good.
Jamie's side:

That was actually pretty refreshing. It sounds like things are a lot more laid back between them than what it seemed. I'm glad they're not on bad terms or "falling out" though. Just kind of taking a creative hiatus and (most likely) putting Gorillaz on the shelf.
I WOULD like to hear about those projects that they worked on between Gorillaz albums that Jamie talks about, though. Good or bad, I'd like to see anything these guys can churn out together.
Blahhh.. this is sad sad news
Do Ya Thing is still my favorite track of the year. Maybe HTDA will blow it out of the water, but man I really do love this track.
Holy Shit New album, Damon Albarn says he will be working on it in September.!!!
Supposedly its going to be called Neon Bush.
"I think that we need another album I think that people are getting too upset that we've haven't did anything since last year. Some people wondered what the Characters are doing since last year."

Also a new Blur album.
New GORILLAZ. YES!
Ughhh.. my countdown already begins
Fuck, I want more damnit.Previously unreleased track from the Plastic Beach Syrian sessions. Featuring the Lebanese National Orchestra for Oriental Arabic Music.
Damon's new solo album Everyday Robots will be released April 28. Tracklist and more info here.
Listen to the eponymous single.
Nice news and cool sound but wish for the return of Gorillaz soon.
This sounds Gorillaz like anyways so whatever. Yay.
Love the new track and very excited for this new solo album!
New Song
The new solo album completely flew under my radar but I'm impressed so far. I can't wait for it to come out.
Here's the new official music video:
The new album is AMAZING and completely worth buying for the song "You & Me" alone. The second half of the song is heartbreaking yet fantastic.
I liked the first two albums, didn't care for Plastic Beach and never heard the last one.
I'll have to get Everyday Robots later today!
Looks like we will be getting new albums from Gorillaz, and The Good, The Bad, And The Queen!!

Just wanted to echo any "OMG GORILLAZ" and "OMG EVERYDAY ROBOTS" statements.
For real, Everyday Robots is probably one of my favorite albums this year. It's beautiful.
It's official!!!

I just learned the other day that there was another album after Plastic Beach that I never knew about. I had to go sit in the corner and cry in shame almost as hard as I did when I learned about Rob Zombie's last album about a month after it dropped.
I live under a rock, apparently.
I thought The Fall was pretty weak...I dunno, just didn't do it for me.
Good News Everyone!
http://diymag.com/2015/10/12/jamie-h...erial-for-2016“That’s next year. I’m working on it at the moment, and it’s going very well. I’m very excited. I don’t want to say too much about it, but I’m at that phase of experimentation. What I try not to do when I’m working in this creative period, the cooking of the mess, is go to other peoples’ exhibitions and look at other peoples’ work. I close my eyes, and don’t want to know what anyone else is doing. Doing that has kind of ruined the creative process for me in the past, and I don’t want to let that happen again.

The real tragedy is that we'll never get to hear the full version of the song in the Russel Ident video from the Plastic Beach era. At least I'm blissfully unaware of any other gems that would've been included on that release. You never know, they could very well be working on the b-sides album for that record. It'd be a little weird, but who knows?
