Great, my discs arrived today and one of them is defective. Does anyone have experience with B&N as far as refunds?

I already have the super-deluxe 3-disc version of La Dolce Vita that I bought at my old used CD/DVD story for $30 as I'm still going to keep it and I will buy the Criterion version. Yet, I marked the fuck out for the Jacques Tati box-set.

Pretty disappointed in October's lineup, not going to lie. Not really a great standard "The ONE horror release for Halloween" release this year. That's a shame.

So far I've only picked up Hard Days Night and Scanners in this months sale, but dammit if Hard Days Night isn't hands down one of Criterion's best releases ever. Only thing that could have made it better is if they actually got new interviews with Ringo and Paul.

Agreed. I haven't watched any of the special features though I'm happy to know that there's a remixed version of the film's soundtrack based on the remastered version of the album. I'm going to watch it with my parents later on who are eager to see the new transfer.

BTW, does anyone have any idea what this image mean for what film? I have no idea and the people at the Criterion forum seem unsure:

Monte Hellman's Ride The Whirlwind and The Shooting.

Sweet. I have an older edition on DVD. I wouldn't mind upgrading it to Blu-Ray. I totally love that film.

    It was a preorder.

Just checked out the first Zatoichi, happily impressed. Of course these movies look and sound amazing for their age. Stunned they did this for all 25 of these movies.

Grabbed Hard Days Night, Scanners, The Ice Storm, Gimme Shelter, and Insomnia. Really hoped that B&N would have released The Big Chill early, but I guess it didn't have the same kind of demand that Devil's Backbone had last year, for such a thing.

I already have L'Avventura though I wouldn't mind getting a new version as an upgrade. I'm fucking stoked about Tootsie. I love that movie. It Happened One Night is a fucking great film. I haven't seen that film in years. Claudette Colbert's leg show. Now that is sexy.

The Criterion Dead Ringers has been long out of print, but Warner Brothers released a DVD in 2005. Not sure which one you got, but keep us posted.

Paramount is going to put Boyhood out on dvd/ blu-ray in order for the film to gain Oscar buzz. Meaning the Criterion release is delayed till whenever.

It's good to know that I'm a patient man as I know Boyhood will be on Criterion so there's no need to get any version that isn't approved by Richard Linklater. I can wait.

Sorry for the double-post but here is the image in the new Criterion newsletter.

That is easy. The Thin Blue Line.
