So now along with Rushmore, Criterion now has both films which kind of summed up my teenage experience. Not personally, but when each came out I found them more relatable than the glut of 90's mainstream teen movies being put out.

Picked up my first criterion : Stalker.
Coming to Criterion in January 2018:
50% off at B&N again
Of all the videos of people being in the Criterion closet, I don't think anyone will top this one:
I need to change my pants. It's full of cum.
I found my Beastie Boys DVD and was thinking this could use a Blu-Ray update with hi-res sound.
February
Coming to the Criterion Collection in April:
&.....
The Ingmar Bergman set is calling my name. Also the Zatoichi boxset is only 99$ on Amazon.
Usual 50% off sale at Barnes and Noble is going on.
I grabbed Dead Man and The Lure. About all I want unless I rebuy two videos from my library.
I can't decide if I should go ahead and pre order the Ingmar Berman's Collection from Amazon, or wait for B&N's 50% sale. I'm worried it'll be out of stock almost immediately during the B&N's sale because a lot of people have talked about waiting for the B&N sale.
FilmStruck is shutting down next month.

right?
by the sounds of it, there will be pieces and elements of the service in the upcomming streaming service by I guess Warner is it? either way, if THAT even happens, I expect it to be totally watered down. that really sucks.
I even tried to sign up for Filmstruck for one month, but they're not accepting new customers. bummer.
I was big into films for a long time (was a media arts major as an undergrad) but I've just been so consumed the past few years that my passion has died down. stumble upon this thread, and I've been binging all day.
I had a few Criterion DVDs years ago, wish I still had them. sadly, I don't even remember which ones I had, but I think I had Breathless and the Seventh Seal.
Well I couldn't get filmstruck on any of my TV devices. My Android TV, my PlayStation, my Xbox, I'm definitely well within the target audience here but film struck had hard fucking time making its way on to my screen through the same channels that all its competitors do.
And that's fine: there are far too many streaming services right now, and everyone is looking to make their own. The bubble has to start to burst sometime. The arrangement criterion had previously with Hulu was great, my best hope is we end up with something like that again
Change.org petition
There's a fair share of outrage about this on social media from film fans like me, all the way up to major directors like Guillermo Del Toro and Edgar Wright.
signed the petition. I doubt it'll do much, even with major directors speaking out, but we'll see.
It's not going to change the mind of the WarnerMedia people, but it should at least garner enough interest for a Criterion-centric platform which is what I've wanted even more than a TCM-one.
is the 50% off sale at B&N through the whole month of Nov? or only for like a week or a day? I don't even own a blu-ray player. But the Bergman boxset is REALLY intriguing me right now. And I just watched their trailer for the Olympics boxset and even though I'm not the biggest fan of the Olympics...WOW. I actually almost had a tear in my eye at the end of the trailer, so beautiful. Even at 50% off, I'm acting like I still have money to spend hah. This thread re-ignited my passion though. Thank you all.
the deal starts tomorrow. I do have a tiny bit of extra money after getting paid today. I think I'm going for it.
first ever sale pickups:
-Stalker
-Seven Samurai
-A Night to Remember
-The Before Trilogy
-Down by Law
-Rebecca
-A Touch of Zen
have never seen it- can't wait!
Awesome, let me know what you think of it.
The B&N deal is through the whole month. Also in July. I once got a defective Criterion from them and when I sent in for a replacement I received two copies in it's place, sold one off and made a profit off my initial investment. They're awesome.
Picked up today:
-Mystery Train
-Election
-The Princess Bride
-My Dinner With Andre
-A Brighter Summer Day
