I am familiar with the bands discography, this is their worst title
Drip Drip. This album reminds me of 'Allelujah quite a bit so far (although I'm still only halfway through it).
This album is sooooo good. My favorite GY!BE interludes to date! and the two main tracks are outstanding.
Oh! These songs have had live performances on youtube for I think a couple years now... I totally forgot how early they debut new material
Yeah I guess I would agree that it's like Don't Bend Ascend, maybe mostly I that it didn't land for me on my one listen. I also remain deeply annoyed that they're splitting songs into multiple tracks still. I hate that shit

I like the new record. Made the playlist last night.
It still blows my mind that some folks were lucky enough to see this band on the same bill as NIN.
I've seen them at the same festival as NIN in Europe (also 2013, the same year they opened Tension shows).
It was fucking surreal. NIN played at dawn, 19-ish, at the main stage, between Fall Out Boy and Eminem. Me and my crew caught about half of Em's headlining show from far away, and then moved to a tent where GYBE were scheduled to play. They started around midnight, when about half of the audience were slowly falling asleep after the whole day in the burning sun, especially when they started with super long Hope Drone.
yes, lol
but there are some festivals that really don't have any sort of curfew and the scheduled times just go out the window at some point. I'm pretty sure it was around 4AM when The Soft Moon finally hit the stage at Primavera (in Barcelona) in 2014 or 15. I was barely alive by then.
So I really like this new album a lot
I saw Sigur Ros at Bonnaroo 2008 starting at around 1:30/2am and it is one of the greatest live experiences I've ever had.
New album is really, really good. It can definitely be bleak at times, but I think it alternates nicely between darkness and an almost defiant sense of hopefulness.
So this was found
There's been a lot of fakes out there over the years, so hopefully this is legit. The singing definitely sounds like Efrim.
The hive mind seems to think it's legit... I suppose it largely subverts my expectations which leads me to believe it's real.
Amazing that it remained unearthed for so long. But I guess with only 33 copies floating about…
Very nice, thanks for posting that! I suspect I'll probably only listen to it that once, even if it is the Real Thing -- it's more interesting than good, IMO. Pretty awesome to have that bit of history finally, though, assuming it's real. (Edit: and it is real, excellent!)
Still hoping that a miracle'll happen and I'll feel comfortable enough going to see gy!be in Chicago next month. Thalia Hall's very nicely requiring vax proof (as in: negative test results aren't enough), which gives me some confidence. But I know too many COVID-floor nurses and committing to an indoor event this winter still feels awfully unlikely for me. I could really use the catharsis of a gy!be show!

88.2 kHz... interesting.
this was a retirement letter,
recorded spring/summer/fall summer of 1993.
all of it by efrim, and a little bass from mauro.
vocals on $13.13 by d.c., acoustic gtr. snippet and backwards hash by
dan-o.
no relation to the band that followed.
all proceeds from sales going to the CJPME's campaign to provide
medical oxygen to the Gaza Strip.
be gentle.
xoxoxox efrim
Awesome! I don't know if I agree with them when they say that there's no relation to the GY!BE we know today. It's certainly not the same thing, but you can hear a few seeds of what would come later being planted.
This is the greatest thing I've seen ever
New album out October 4th:
