I'd like to see them approach a season in a similar way to the novels. Each episode having its own high-concept scenario as usual, but with a connecting narrative which builds with each one. The entirely self-contained, weekly-reset nature of the show at the moment doesn't quite sit right with me, not with so much history. It doesn't feel like they're going anywhere, or that anything they've done for nearly 30 years has mattered.

The way the novels connected the scenarios of the early episodes into an ongoing narrative massively enhanced the material, and given the way that TV has evolved in the 21st century, it would feel very appropriate to bring that sort of approach to the screen.

Every single one of these Dave seasons gets better than the last by a bit. This season's sole exception had to be Timewave, which was just awful, but all the other eps were great, especially the finale. That was such a good close. There's a lot of callbacks this year, but when they do them right, like in that last one, I think longtime fans should be getting the warm and fuzzies. I did.

Cripes, I could really do with a new RD novel.
All I saw was some giant rat--looks pretty funny.

Just finished watching the excellent season 12. I would even go as far as saying that, overall, it was as good as season six (2-5 will always be the best, imho). "Timewave" was the only lemon--not awful, but just sort of a misfire. Kind of surprised how good 11 and 12 were, considering 7-10 were kind of a letdown, although 7 has grown on me.

Hoping it will be available on Amazon soon. Trying to avoid spoilers. The comments on the RD Facebook page have been positive.

I just saw The Promised Land and it was excellent. It's really a feature length movie, not a three-part serial, which is kind of what I was expecting (I avoided all spoilers). Lot of laughs, had a classic RD feel, good story and it was surprisingly poignant at times. It's available on Amazon now to buy for only $3.00 with the blu-ray/DVD out 9/15.
