"Oh, yeah, it's December, isn't it?" He pauses. "Just wait and see what happens."
i am hyped, it is official

Unexpected, of course, remains Reznor's M.O., especially when it relates to his main gig. When asked about the mood of the forthcoming Nine Inch Nails record – whether it arrives before New Year's or not – he wants people to be patient. "That will be part of the reveal," he says. "I don't want to spoil it. If I'm interested in a film, I prefer not to watch the trailer. We live in overstimulated times."
What if 2016 is the ARG for the new album and Bowie is really alive?
No yeah probably not.
TR Said... "I don't want to spoil it. If I'm interested in a film, I prefer not to watch the trailer. We live in overstimulated times."
I say... "But we fucking love your trailers"
Etc.....
Yeah, I'm not really a fan of the boom suddenly here. Nothing got me more excited than the slow changes and little clips for With Teeth, it wasn't enough to be a spoiler, just a taste of awesome. Hints at the art style (which I loved) and some of the sounds that gave me goosebumps. And then the ARG for Year Zero, amazing setup for the album. That's what felt like it was missing for releases since then, tbh.
If he wants to do a surprise release, he should keep it a surprise. If he wants tension and hype, he should share a little more. I definitely wish the more transparent Trent from the With Teeth era was still around at times.
he's gonna do it on the 18th won't he? it makes so much sense to do it on the 18th
That Rolling Stone interview has me so hyped.
"We live in overstimulated times."
True that, Mr. Reznor. True that.
Trent's statement about waiting to see the full movie unteased basically suggests, "don't worry about looking out for a teaser or a trailer for this album, wait and hear it in full." I'm legitimately wondering if by the end of this month he'll release a NIN album in full, no single prior, no teasers. If that's the case, I'm all for it.
I don't know. I kinda miss cocktease Rez. I liked it better when he would take his sweet time, revealing bit by bits, hardly containing his excitement.
Now he just flops on the bed already naked, staring at the ceiling, muttering "oh yeah do your thing baby that's so good just leave the money on the table"...
Kinda kills the mood, and it makes me feel a bit cheap and dirty.
Doesn't help that, because of my own fucking analogy, I can't shake the image of Trent Reznor in a Dr. Frank N. Furter attire out of my head, I have to admit...
As much as I like the little teasers, I have to say that I agree with Trent's trailer analogy. Often times it's easy to get wrapped up in those little bits and make assumptions about the album before you hear it in full. It's fun to get a little taste, but it's also nice to be completely surprised as well.
Also the first singles from an album are never as good as the rest of the album I've found. I really liked the HTDA teaser videos so something like that would be preferable
He drops a quick teaser that says January 2017. Then on the day of Trump's inauguration, releases Year Zero 2.

Ugh, please, no...
Except by virtue of him saying that, it's a teaser.
"there's a film coming " isn't quite what one would nowadays call a teaser. No word on what it's about, what's the art direction, what's the inspiration... He merely confirmed there's a thing, to be available somewhat soonish, that consists of music.
I'm way underteased here.
guys guys i have some breaking news....
i just got the cover of the new nin album
enjoy

I agree, I don't like the traditional release of a couple singles before the album because those get played out and then skipped in anticipation of the new stuff. I'd rather have the release all at once and everything on the album is brand new and fresh. It was torture watching the NiN logo during the bleedthrough iteration of with teeth watching the logo page slowly change a few pixels a day just to have no music for another couple years. The *poof* new Nine Inch Nails appears out of the ether for download like the slip was awesome.

Is that how bad the teasing was? I was a fan then but I had a shitty dial up connection and crap PC but now I'm glad I didn't partake of that. First thing I knew of With Teeth was the streaming album.
I do remember pathetically trying to view the Still videos on nin.com but giving up. A while before that had been some weird cube graphics, but again my connection was tortuous so I gave up trying to view any NIN
This is fuckin torture! About 50 times a day I rotate between googling "NIN", checking NIN.com and then checking this forum, waiting for the explosion to occur!
So, nin.com is different now. White background with the logo, but still it's different....something's coming soon!
ooooooooh shiiitttttt!
Hmm... crap the website is still the same for me.
Tomorrow is Friday. I would guess the album (or something) drops tomorrow digitally with a full physical release sometime in January. We'll see...
Was it already mentioned here that a bunch of us were here on ETS near midnight on December 30 2006 when Reznor gave us the full Broken movie?
Boy, THAT was a party!!
(He also gave us the Closure DVD on December 21st)
I HAVE SO MUCH ANXIETY OVER THIS
I'm going to be so upset if he goes on tour next year. I don't finish school until next December so it will be impossible for me to travel.
