At this rate Bond 26 will come out before this movie.
October 8, 2021
I remember when Danny Boyle was selected to direct and the film had a projected release date of 2019. I wonder what his ideas were for NTTD? I guess that'll give me something to look up this weekend.
There have also been reports that certain brands want reshoots because products are considered out of date. I doubt very much that'll happen.
The title of this thread needs to be changed:
James Bond 25: No Time To Die (3019)
lol at the comment about him looking like a cross between Connery and Brosnan.
Every time I see the villain in this one I’m not going to be able to not associate Freddie Mercury with him in every scene, lol.
Does this film work as a standalone, or is it tied to Spectre? Skyfall was the last one I've seen, should catch up with Spectre before seeing this one?
I'm sure it's at least loosely tied to Spectre since Christolph Waltz is in the trailer, but since it's only one movie (and because unlike most, I thought Spectre was pretty good), I'd recommend watching it. The only one I regularly skip is Quantum; that is easily the most skippable Craig-era bond flick.
I don't know but I see Skyfall, Spectre and No Time To Die as almost a trilogy. Skyfall brings back new Q and new Moneypenny and we get the transition from former M to new M.
Those characters are back in Spectre. But Spectre and NTTD will link via storyline also. Spectre also references Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.
I know I will watch all four before seeing NTTD. It's just that Quantum is so freaking boring...

Daniel Craig’s painful Bond red carpet interview: ‘Not my problem’
Daniel Craig has brutally shut down reporters on the red carpet in cringe-worthy scenes at the No Time To Die premiere in London.
^^
Is this how 'journalism' works these days? Didn't see anything remotely resembling painful, brutal or cringeworthy there.
I mean, it was kind of awkward, but they're definitely making it out to be a much bigger deal than it is. I love Daniel Craig, but maaaaan, he is SO OVER being asked questions about his James Bond role.
I went to see it yesterday, great film, on par with Casino Royale and Skyfall. This movie closes the pentalogy that started with Casino Royale, so I highly recommend you watch SPECTRE before this one. There’s some great camera work here, some very interesting shots, angles and lighting choices. There’s a brilliant set piece that happens in Norway, and there’s no woman in the film who’s merely a sexual object for Bond (this is much welcomed). Ana de Armas plays a great role, hopefully she’s back in the next film. Rami Malek is such a creepy villain, excellent casting choice (this is the first time I see a role of his).
Spoiler: Although Malek’s motivations are a bit thin, why would he want to kill half of the population and how did he gather the finances to be able to buy an island? I’m kinda getting tired of villains wanting to wipe off half the world’s population.
Goddamn this movie is such an evil one to release in the Covid era, first they kill Felix and then they kill Bond!!!??? We are not having the best time with this covid shit and then you kill Bond?? I didn’t see Bond’s death coming at all, this took me by surprise (even if the movie title aludes to death, but then again, you have such titles in the franchise such as ‘Die Another Day’). At the very end, when I started to realize that Bond is going to die, I put my hands in my face (no joke) and then said to my gf ‘they can’t be doing this!!’ I almost cry in that scene where he says goodbye to Madeleine and his daughter (!!), it was very well executed and it made me aware that I’ve grown to be really fond of a character/Daniel Craig as an specific Bond actor, I was with him for 15 years and now he’s gone. I think the last character death that hit me this deep was Tony Stark/Robert Downey Jr. This speaks of an actor that did a great job throughout the series.
In other things, Lashana Lynch as Nomi/007 was great but she was underused in the film (maybe a directing choice so that Craig could shine in his last 007 film). I thought it was lame that she gave the 007 title to Bond, but hopefully she gets it back in the next film. Really, she should be the next 007 in this universe, bring back the same actors (Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Wishaw, Leah Seydoux, Rory Kinnear). Although there are reports that say at the end of the credits it said “James Bond will be back” so who knows where they’ll go after this. Like I said, it would be great if they switch the gender/race of the next 007, as long as they’re British I’ll be fine.

I agree i really had a lot of fun with it, but it was a tad bit long and some of the plot...didn't work for me, like what @cahernandez mentioned above. Also Spoiler: so they gave Bond the EMP watch and they were going to fight the villian who made a special vile of nanomachines, so i instantly thought "oh so he'll use the emp to kill the nanomacines, that's why they are setting that up" and they just...didn't. It felt SO obvious to me that that's what is was there for and nope. Kinda took away from the emotion of the scene for me
It was pretty good, I thought. Even in the era of a grittier Bond, this was one of the more gritty flicks, I feel like. There weren't too many scenes of him in a suit looking dapper and hanging around at swanky parties, but given the continuity between films and where his story was headed, that made sense.
The length of the flick didn't really bother me; it dragged a liiiiiittttle bit in the second half, but overall it generally moved at a good enough pace for me. Rami Malek was pretty good overall, the main henchmen were meh.
The side plays were all great: Madeline, the new 007, M, Q, Moneypenny. All great as usual.
The ending hit hard. It took me by surprise: Spoiler: taking away his chance at a family was so brutal for a Bond that had already lost so much. And then the death! I just didn't think they'd end it like that; I thought they'd let him have peace, finally. They did in a way, I guess.
Just saw the movie. Some thoughts:
I was surprised how much it built on SPECTRE, considering that movie wasn't all that well received.
The 245 minutes never dragged. The movie didn't grab me the way Casino Royale and Skyfall did, but it kept my interest.
One bummer of an ending. It worked, but I would have prefered Bond going off with Madeline and his daughter.
