Radio interview "Start Making Sense" with Atticus Ross recorded Oct. 2016

The gist:
- Atticus doesn't drink (and hasn't for more than 20 years now), rarely going out on a Saturday night
- He has done work in the past that he doesn't now 100% approve of (as a "jobbing" producer)
- Mainstream music has gone sideways from where he feels it once was (but he cited Savages as a current example of a popular band having musical qualities he admires)
- Generally he starts working on film scores from the script (from "the film that's in your head" while reading it, creating a musical world "in broad strokes" which fits that story)
- Atticus was not an "obsessive" fan of Brian Wilson, before he started on Love & Mercy, and was at first very reluctant to have his original score sit next to the Beach Boys' greatest hits, but after reading the script came up with the idea of a score in collage form
- One of his earliest music memories was of a jukebox in his childhood home and hearing "My Ding-a-Ling" by Chuck Berry on it
- His dad started Radio Caroline, the infamous pirate station, then switched to "the rag trade" and went bankrupt so badly he was barred from talking to bank managers in England for 15 years
- The family moved to L.A. when Atticus was around 11 years old, where his dad started a rollerskating disco club with Denny Cordell from Shelter Records, which he loved hanging out in as a teenager as it morphed into a music venue where he got to see all the classic West Coast punk bands play
- Atticus moved back to England, then ended up in New York City around age 17 in the mid-80s and got to witness the nascent phase of hip-hop when it was emerging (he particularly cited Public Enemy's Fear of a Black Planet as a game-changer)
- You don't know what it takes to make music, until you actually do it!

Trent Reznor is spotted in the Latrine Scene's review of Target Self Storage in Victoria, B.C.
Spotting is near the end of the review. I hope this counts! Let me know what you think!
my friend in high school who pretty much introduced me to NIN but who i have now removed from my life used to have handwritten Hurt lyrics up on his bedroom wall as a teenager that looked just like this. 16 year old me is still cringing and 27 year old me is cringing again.

thanks! That was great. FInally found out where those static files unearthed on that hidden nin.com directory originated from (Spoiler alert: They were fucking with us)
I use the browser extension Reddit Enhancement Suite feature Never-Ending Reddit, so my Chrome URL bar often looks like this and it amuses me.
I'm catching up on the newest episodes of Better Call Saul & I can't help but see this:

The only thing better might be a prequel release featuring vocals by Ahmed Best.
