Fuckssakes I can't even decide which lifepath I'm gonna want to start with. Nomad I think?
This in-game stuff looks almost too good to be true. Ugh, they're going to delay this again aren't they.

Man, after seeing that hand to hand combat... I know they said they're not happy with it, but my lord it looks borderline early PS3 days.
Twitter is aflame with people speculating that the unthinkable is going to happen again. Sigh.
The hype for this game is too high, I expect it will never meet them for everyone. I've been interested ever since it has been announced. I am not putting this game on a pedestal though.
I don't expect a September release.
About 8 minutes into episode three of Night City Wire and they're going in depth into the world itself and it looks almost too good to be true. It just looks so fuckin' dense. 'It's by far the biggest, most complex world anyone on the entire team has ever done.' Unnnggghh.
I guess I’ll preorder at Best Buy. You get a free steelbook (one at random of the three available) and a $10.00 reward certificate for the website and stores for future purchases.
That’s for the US at least.
Or you could do what I did, preorder on the day they showed the first gameplay back at E3 2019. Sure it was 40% off if you ordered on that one day, but I've had to see it sitting in my Amazon order list forever lmao.
delay it as much as they need to I guess, better than to release something broken. It's hard to recover from a bad launch.
yesterday:
I legit took Nov 19-29 off since I'm sitting on so much paid vacation, and it's too late to change it now lol.
Luckily i can still move my time off...but now i'm wondering if it'll make that new date. The crunch is already real, and this must be for something they've found that needs to be in the day one patch, enough for them to move the release 21 days (so something game breaking) but they still want it out before the holidays...i hope all the devs get a bonus for this!
What delay are we on now? #4 or #5? It's only a three week extension but this doesn't seem handled well at all to delay it this many times.
Should've just delayed it the first time and made an absurd date far out then when you felt comfortable release it earlier as a surprise announcement. Would've gave positive headlines and would've been better fake PR for whiners. Just my two cents.
gotta be something PS5/XBX related, right?
Perhaps. I do know that the word online regarding the first official delay (from Apr to Sept) was that it apparently ran like shit on the OG Xbox One and PS4. Talking like the original 2013 XB1 launch console. They apparently gave themselves until the end of 2019 to make it work and if come 2020 it was still trash, despite April still being 4 months away, they'd bite the bullet. And bite it they did when that time came and it was still 'extremely unsatisfactory' on those.
As for this? They of course kept it vague as to which specific iteration was the culprit, but at this point I just wanna play the fuckin' thing haha.
I'm sure it's to do with the optimization/support for the next gen platforms that would be launching alongside it. They imply something like that, and also seem to imply that it was working and ready to go otherwise, and that this is just to delay release until the day 1 patch is ready. Would that imply they've already printed physical copies, or sent them in for printing? If that's the case, I really doubt they're going to delay much longer.
The release of the next gen consoles seem to be a huge clusterfuck in their own right and I can totaly understand that they want to get this right for the new consoles. But still, this is some pretty bad time management on their side and probably some bad management and communcation on behalf of Sony and Microsoft.
I guess the need to release this before christmas and in line with the new consoles was too big of an opportunity to miss though. Personally I would have skipped the older consoles in favor of maxing this one out. Yet, their explanation of "going gold" is pretty stretched in that statement.
Might be in the minority here, but so far I have a lot of doubts that this game will meet expectations they way they've handled it with too much press and buzz imho and these constant delays. On the other hand I agree with those that say let's wait and get this right before releasing it buggy and not running smoothly. Together with the news that the whole team ins on a big crunch for days now and this new annoucement... oh well.
Revealed today in a conference call with the CEO and CFO of CDPR that it's actually the current gen systems causing the latest delay. PC and next gen are ready to roll.
NEW RELEASE DATE: "We are firm." - CEO Kicinski. "Realizing on November 19 is possible and was possible" but "having these three more weeks gives us a chance to fix this and that." "The decision was not easy but we know there is just one release and the first impression is crucial" so in the long-run the decision is beneficial. "Better initial reaction to the game always works in favor of more sales. That is why we are delaying, we don't have to but having this extra time gives us more certainty that everything will be in the game when we release."
ABOUT THE DELAY: "This situation is different" compared to previous changes to the deadline - the game for PC is ready and plays well on next-gen consoles and the company is finalizing the process concerning current gen consoles.
Well for what it's worth, here are the full highlights from the call:

GAME ITSELF: "We are really sure we have something amazing in our hands" and once the game is released, "everyone will understand" why it was so difficult. "Don't get us wrong, we are kind of internally stressed on the one hand, but on the other we feel very strong about the game." and "We are super happy with what we will deliver."
2020 RECEIPTS: "The time for the game on the market [this year] is shorter, we will have smaller revenues but still comparable," Nielubowicz said, underlining that in the case of 'The Witcher 3" 90% of sales in the premiere quarter came in the first four weeks. "Pre-holiday period should also support sales on the market."
PRE-ORDERS: The ratio for pre-orders between 'The Witcher 3' and 'Cyberpunk 2077' at the same stage before the premiere "is continuously very satisfying." CD Projekt expects no major cancellations of pre-orders because of the delay.
AVERAGE SELLING PRICE: "We believe we are a premium title, we don't have to give any extra incentives."(NO)
CONTRACTUAL FINES: "there are no penalties we would be facing from any of our partners."
MARKETING COSTS: "We will have to reschedule the marketing campaign and such a rescheduling will most likely entail higher spending," Nielubowicz said, adding it's too soon to offer any exact cost. "There is gonna be some extra supporting budget for sure to account for the change," one of the officials also said.
FEEDBACK: Feedback "gives us a lot of confidence." Those who completed the game say they have never played a game like this before." - board member Nowakowski
IMPACT OF DELAY ON EXTENSIONS: "We expect no impact on extensions."
FUTURE PROJECT (IMPACT OF THE DELAY): CD Projekt plans some "organizational changes" in technical departments. "Too many things were put together at late stages." - CEO Kicinski
I have always wanted a really involved cyberpunk action RPG, so I have the highest hopes for this. What's really been out there in the genre? You'd think there'd be tons of games exploring cyberpunk universes but I can't think of many. There were the Shadowrun games for SNES and Genesis (both totally different from each other, and both great), Omikron (which was a weird PC game starring David Bowie), the Deus Ex games, System Shock, Beneath a Steel Sky, maybe you could say Final Fantasy VII... So I'm really hoping this is as amazing as it looks like it's gonna be.
Then again, if the experience is going to be a disservice on current gen systems, maybe I'll wait until I have a PS5 or XbX.
