My Mom has Alzheimer’s. It takes about 10 years for the cognitive effects of Alzheimer’s to move into the mid range where it becomes truly apparent. My mom’s had it at least 10 years, and she can’t type anymore or organize her own pill container, but she’s up to 2000 per game in Expert level of Microsoft Klondike Solitaire, blasts through a book of Circle-a-Word per week, and still reads and responds to email. She does great on her quarterly Montreal cognitive tests.
