Actually Mank is a work of fiction, without much accurate history in it. So no, I don't think you really need to watch Citizen Kane first. A big chunk of the movie isn't even about Kane anyway. In fact, the more you know about the history the more you might be distracted by how removed from the history that Mank is. That being said, coming from someone who has seen Kane close to ten times, yes, you should watch Kane regardless of Mank. Mank is a markedly inferior movie to Kane (most movies are), and if you only have two hours to spare and both movies in your queue, it's an easy decision.
I scored a copy of the Coffee Table Book for the movie. There's a section about the score with an interview with TR and AR. I'm super busy with work/family stuff but I'll upload pictures of the pages at some point soon.
I got a free second. Here they are. It's just three pages. I have only thumbed through the book so if there is anything else related to the score I will add it. Sorry if the pictures aren't the best but I didn't want to break the spine to flatten the pages. Here's a link to the photo album I created for them, the pictures may be better there than copy and pasted here.
Thanks so much @Fadeout54321 — gotta ask though, can you make out on the page what that design is on TR's coffee mug?
^ Thanks! I appreciate you taking the extra time to share.
My first thought is it's one of his kids as some sort of personalized gift.
Photoshop thread would be a perfect place to resolve that mug mystery...
what if it's the bernie meme?
My first guess was also Nosferatu. The Bernie meme has the mittens in his lap and I think I remember seeing a pic of Nosferatu with his hands to the sides.
Enhance, enhance....
I'd really like to get a glimpse of that record collection.
My first thought was the Saw doll on his tricycle
Joint conversation with Trent and Fincher in the Guardian

"...brown tracksuit..." What the fuck?
Edit: I think this finally puts a nail in the Fight Club: The Musical coffin...at least in terms of Fincher's involvement. And probably for good reason.

The comments for that article are really negative on Mank.
Is the Oscars going to be a live non-zoom event with a red carpet and everything?

Live, limited audience of nominees.

This came up recently, all the nominees have been asked to attend in person but with limited audience, better than zoom at least

So... Long time since I visited this thread. What's the speculation on the street date for the Mank vinyl?
If Trent and Atticus attend the Oscars physically, which table do they sit at? The Mank table or the Soul table???
It would be incredibly awkward if they sat at the Soul table then won for Mank! At the end of the day, who knows how the Academy voted? They might not win at all! Although I can’t see Soul losing personally, it’s a possibility

Aren't the Oscars held in a Theater with regular theater seating? Unless they changed the format because of Covid and they are having tables?
