I remember in 5th grade when my friend Neil Alper told me he listened to a band called the Red Hot Chili Peppers and they had an older song called Party on your Pussy and I thought it was the most badass thing ever.
Pleasantly surprised with the new album. Big improvement over the last one. They spent some time on The Getaway and it shows. It sounds like RHCP, but they are trying to expand their sound a little and sound a lot more inspired this time around.
ETA--Is there a site where you can download the I'm With You sessions?

How good is the track "Encore"?
The guitars give me a very 90s Frusciante feel
Heard the new album, but i don't know what to think...
I liked "Dark Necessities" but it was clear to me it was just the single and the album maybe (just maybe), would be better...
The album is not bad, but it's nothing to scream about, the production is great, the arrangements are nice but i think the songs lack of any real hooks, it's also clear to me they don't care to rock anymore.
I liked "I'm with you", it's not an awesome album, but it's a good effort, but "The getaway" did not make me feel much...
I don't know if this band is done, but it's clear to me they have became something else and i'm not quite sure if i like it or if i don't, they have been changing ever since "Californication", but most of the time i was able to be on board until now...
I think it's slightly better than I'm With You, which I enjoyed. I think RCHP are in their comfort zone at this point. And you know what you're going to get at this point. Not a bad album. Nothing really new though.
(also posting this in the mike patton thread)
Fox News continues its vicious assault against Red Hot Chili Peppers
Greg Gutfeld is a MASSIVE asshole, just google him to see immediately.
It's a classic case of a clock being right twice a day.
I hope someone from the FNM camp pipes up to tell him where to go: Billy Gould? It would be a good opportunity.
There's been good pieces slamming Chris Christie for his clueless Springsteen fandom.
I enjoyed the vid but the song sounded too... do they ever rock our anymore?

One Hot Minute is the shit and always will be. This also rules and is from the same time frame.
According to Wikipedia there were supposedly 21 tracks recorded and only 4 bonus tracks are officially released. There was that circle of the noose outtake that surfaced recently, this one above, any other OHM outtakes out there?
I'd be interested in hearing other tracks from that era with Dave.
also, does anyone here have the unmastered version of the album?
They also have a track they never recorded in the studio but appears in the film Tough Guys which they were in for this legendary sequence featuring the ultimate LEGEND in Kirk Douglas who just turned 100 years old yesterday and is still kicking ass...
I just learned of a thing called "Red Hot Chili Peppers (1999) Californication (Rough Mixes Remaster 2014)" which is quite exciting to me. I also discovered on my iPod a folder "One Hot Minute [Unmastered _ Unsequenced]" which I haven't ever listened to. So perhaps I should.
Never heard this before:
Last song recorded with DN, circa 1998.
Great news! John Frusciante is back! 1 of my favorite guitar players ever. I would love to hear him work with NIN at some point but he's going to be busy now, haha.

How long until he gets fed up and leaves again though?
I guess John boy pissed all his money away. I guess putting out solo albums for 30 people to buy and playing solo shows in half empty coffee shops lost its appeal. Rejoin Anthony and Fleas band for the 10th time. Play stadiums for a year doing 'under the bridge' and 'give it away'. Make a shitload of money and then quit for the 10th time claiming you need to pursue your own artistic vision. De ja vu? This guys lucky he isn't in jail after what he did to River Phoenix that fateful night in 93. John boy was the one who gave River the dose of drugs that killed him that night. Hes a millionaire now while River is taking a dirt nap. Doesnt seem right
Oh, happy day!!!!!!
