In the end I think I fall more on the "it's not TR/AR" than "it is," but I don't think that matching other remixes of the era is a good metric one way or the other. I'd assumed that whatever the source of these, it's only part of the conceit that they were "from 1994." Whether they're TR/AR-sourced or not, I don't think they're really intended to be viewed as "real" in-this-universe-as-opposed-to-the-Watchmen-alt-universe lost tracks from '94.
Though whatever the source, I will join the chorus in saying that these things are bangin'. Thrilled to have 'em on my HD regardless of where they came from.
I want to believe.
I don't know what to believe anymore.
facebook.com/thnineinchnails, instagram.com/thnineinchnails and thnineinchnails.com (aswell as .net, .org...) are still available.
A bit too Garageband to be real, but yeah, fun.
As Leviathant said, it's fun if nothing else! A welcome distraction while the world rages.
Given how insanely prolific TR+AR have become (two new Ghosts albums after lockdown has barely begun!), I'm making myself smile thinking about this fictional exchange:
INT. STUDIO – DAY.
Two music producers, beaten down by indefinite quarantine and the general state of the world, sit together in silence.
TR: Hey, Att. So, June is the 25th anniversary of Further Down The Spiral.
AR: Oh, cool.
TR: Yeah... remember how The Manhattan Project liner notes had that heresy album cover from the alternate NIN history we came up with?
AR: Uh, yeah. I think so.
TR: ... you wanna make the heresy EP?
AR: Get out of my head.
Alas, it’s fan-made but it’s also really good.
Yes, the Bandcamp is gone
Rip
Well that was a fun hoax
This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Kobalt Music Publishinghmm.Wired reported in 2015 that Kobalt was "the top independent music publisher in the UK and the second overall (to Sony/ATV) in the US," with around 600,000 songs and 8,000 artists in its catalogue,[2] including Massive Attack,[3] Trent Reznor,[4] Gwen Stefani,[1] Phoenix,[4] Prince,[5] Sonic Youth, Ellie Goulding,[4] Paul McCartney,[6] Bob Marley,[7] John Denver,[8] Tiesto,[4] Bob Dylan,[4] and Kelly Clarkson.[1][4]
I'm like 90% sure it's someone here though because the twitter account has @Leviathant tagged.
double hmm.
Oh well.
Soundcloud link is still online.
Was it confirmed a hoax?
Yeah it’s fake.
Go listen to FDTS for its 25th anniversary instead.
Is it available for download some place?
I wanted to download this too! Just ran to the store and came back to find it pulled down from bandcamp
I wonder if the bandcamp account maxed out on downloads. They only allow a few hundred, correct?
If this is fan made, then good for them. It's freaking awesome.
If not, then the part of me who wants to believe will lose his mind if TR canceled his tour, but went ahead and released a Year Zeroish new TDS remix record.
I dig it.
What has @totom been up to lately? ;-)

Definitely a fan project, but still cool!

it wasn't sean parker who added the THE to nin. it was david lynch
I think you did a good job with this. But you should’ve released it under your own name.
