The Oblivion Soundtrack has leaked. and its fricking fantastic.
Surprised nobody is discussing this...
Sweet. I have been looking forward to this. Sounds great.
I'm holding off on listening to it until it's released on iTunes. I pre-ordered the thirty track deluxe edition and am looking forward just completely soaking that all in.
Apparently there is a Mondo Vinyl of it coming. Can't wait.

Norwegian singer-songwriter? Heh.

Looks gorgeous
I just started listening to M83 yesterday and it's making me butt hurt that I missed Big Black Delta opening for them last year.
u didnt miss much. was pretty boring and uninteresting when i saw them.
I don't know what show you saw, but that's the exact opposite of my experience.
I listened to Midnight City the other day. That "tah-too-too-tah" thing was annoying as hell, but after the second listen, it became so damn catchy. I didn't listen to the rest of the album, but I did listen to Saturdays=Youth and liked it.
I have the Oblivion soundtrack. It's all right but there's a lot of repetition and not a lot of moments that stand out. Plus, it's kind of derivative of other scores as I read from the Pitchfork interview that the studio wanted a more traditional score rather than the kind of stuff M83 is known for. I think it's their weakest record so far.
That's because it's NOT an M83 record. It has one M83 song. There are interviews out where Gonzalez says the studio just wanted him because "Midnight City" was a huge hit. When he tried to do things that sounded more like "StarWaves" they'd say, "No no no. More like Zimmer or we can just get someone else."
^ What he said. Saw them in Buffalo last year, almost exactly a year ago to be exact, in Philly in July and in Stockholm back in 2008. Un-fucking-real live energy.
They were great in Chicago too.
no no. i LOVE M83. agree completely. im referring to Big Black ZZZZZ
Ohhh ok. Now that makes way more sense.
Bbd was great when Mahsa and Amy were drumming for him. But since he got rid of them... They are boring as hell live.
Totally stuck on M83 at the moment, been listening to Saturdays, Hurry Up and Digital Shades constantly. Absolutely love them, wish I wasn't so late to the game. Random question, how come the first three records are so hard to come by? I can't find them to buy or download (legally and otherwise) anywhere, other than extortionate 2nd hand copies. Are they out of print or something?

So...this is happening. I had high hopes for this. Unfortunately I'm hating "Do It, Try It." Maybe the album won't sound like this?
Hopefully, it's a rather terrible song.
I'll give it another try on proper speakers, but, yikes. That was tough to finish.
I didn't like that. I love M83 but.... what the fuck was that? It sounded like Supertramp but not in a good way.
Heard the new single a few times and not really a fan of this new sound. The whole thing is odd: Anthony Gonzalez has said the album was inspired by Punky Brewster and Who's the Boss. The album cover has what looks like McDonald's "Fry Guys" complete with a hamburger. Talk about 180.
Not sure how I feel about the song. Like, it's so oddball that I can't even grasp it enough yet to say whether I like it or not. The artwork is so hilariously bad, that I think it makes it harder to tell whether this song should even be taken seriously or not.
The whole thing just kind of feels like some weird prank, you know?
Not feeling this one. I have been a fan of M83 for a long time, but this leaves me very cold. Was especially excited after I liked the last album so much. Here's hoping to better tunes.
I hear a bit Justice-inspired... they should get them to remix this song. We are getting a new Justice this year as well.
It has grown on me after a couple of listens. Not their best work, of course. But it's catchy.

Yeah, this is pretty terrible. It's like he chose to double down on all of the worst and kitchiest aspects of Hurry Up, We're Dreaming that essentially saw M83 descending into self-parody.
