Raised By Wolves
@thelastdisciple
and I were talking about this show a bit in the What Are You Watching thread, but after finishing it I feel like there is way too much to talk about without giving it its own dedicated thread. So is anyone else watching? It seemed to have come out of nowhere to quickly become one of my favorite new shows in a while. Very little complaints about the first season and I am excited that they already announced a second.

I'm def curious to hear what others think, i know someone else mentioned not getting into the show which is sad to hear as i think it's a fascinating watch.
So many questions and yeah that planet has some crazy history, it seems like it's fucking haunted or something.
-
I'm surprised this thread isn't gaining more traction, as I feel this is a show that would be up a lot of ETS members' alleys. Maybe a lot of people still don't have HBO Max?
Anyways, I think this show found the perfect balance between a sci-fi thats too overly cheesy and uninteresting, and one that is too intellectual for its own good, making it difficult to follow. I expect more and more people to catch on over time, especially once season 2 comes out.

I've loved every second. So much depth, story, mystery and metaphor. Can't wait for the next season.
-
I really enjoyed the first season. A bit slow at times perhaps, but overall the story was very entertaining.
-
I loved everything about it.
Mother is such a fascinating character. Is she a villain or isn't she? That's a question I asked myself about almost every characters. That's the beauty of this show: there are not clear cut villains in it, just people with complicated backgrounds who are doing their best.
I supposed one can argue that Ragnar -- I mean Marcus is the villain but I think he's been driven mad by whatever it is that's "whispering" to some of them. I kind of feel bad for him.
So many questions still need to be answered. There's definitely a Ridley Scott vibe to the show: androids leaking white fluids, people stranded on a weird planet with weird creatures, snake like monsters being born...
I can't wait for season two!

I was curious about the theme song and what the lyrics were, found this web page noting that there are differences between a couple episodes.

Raised By Wolves Episode 2 Lyrics
“The door that finally opens
With light flooding in
Spilling out on the floor
The core that never was
Now it will be
The bones of what was there before
Every step, every beat
Every thought, every breath,
Everything is longing
Every wind, every wave,
Every sky, every cloud
Every grave is longing
Pulling you from the sky
Just like love will do.”
Raised By Wolves Episodes 3-5 Lyrics
“The door that finally opens
With light flooding in
Spilling out on the floor
The core that never was
Now it will be
The bones of what was there before
Every step, every beat
Every thought, every breath,
Everything is longing
Pulling you from the sky
Just like love will do.
Pulling you from the ground
Just like love will do.”

I just started a binge on this. Excellent hard sci fi so far.
-

-
Looks like Ragnar is going to go full Ivar. I can't wait1

I recommend the official companion podcast that HBO puts out for this too.

We absolutely adored the first season, although the final episode was a LITTLE strange. Apparently it was explained in the podcast @bobbie solo mentioned, but I've never got around to listening to it.
Anyway, I'm quite excited for the second season, and highly recommend the first to sci fi fans. This thing is pretty fucking deep and does a great job interweaving technology and religion.
Also, it's "From Ridley Scott." I've not looked into.the depth of his involvement, but, you know- that's cool, whatever it is.

Cancelled after two seasons.
-
Eh, it lost me a few episodes into season 2 and I never finished it.
-
It's what happens with such an oversaturated streaming market. Loved the first season, was aware that the second season dropped but had to add it to the list to get to eventually. Happens enough and they'll look at a show like 'nobody's watching this.'
-
I was still really into it, what an absolute bummer.
-
Damn. Just finished season 2. The show was kinda bonkers. They threw absolutely wild concepts into almost every episode of season 2, with barely any time to breathe. Every character was basically suffering from severe trauma or severe trauma with no time to recover. I loved it b/c it was just so nuts. Bummer.
