Got my box set. Goddamn.
The version of "Native Intelligence" with Reznor isn't as dynamic of a collaboration as "True", but it's still great. STILL waiting on the fucking download from Kings Road...
Elfman talks about TR on "True" at 15:42. And there's a multitrack moment...
The hand lamp is fucking awesome. I'm downloading the box set file now...
Yeah, the box set download has the entire box set tracks in .WAV. Welp.
I emailed Kings Road and they sent a link to the whole thing in mp3.
And YES the lamp is everything.
As for the bonus stuff, the vocal features are all good (the TR Native Intelligence is growing on me), and a lot of the remixes are excellent as well. This is an excellent package from top to bottom. If they still have that weird grammy for Best Packaging, this should absolutely get nominated.
Here is the other track for us non-boxset buyers:
i couldnt stand this track on first listen - reminded me too much of nu-metal or some prog rock or whatever but now i love it, especially that rising synth! i hope trent will make something like this for the new nin album
Got mine in today. All the record jackets have scuffs and one of the art pages in the art book has a wrinkle. Haven't checked the records yet to see if any warps or IGD. I hope the pressings clean cause the two standard pressings I got both have IGD on a few songs.
Records, despite being a bit noisy, thankfully don't have IGD on any tracks. I am perplexed by the download though.16bit 96khz? Qobuz has 24bit 44.1khz.
Mash them together for 32bit / 140.1khz magic.
Just bought & downloaded "Native Intelligence". 2 of my favorite artists. What could possibly go wrong....go wrong....go wrong?
I guess I'll add bathing to the list of things that I can no longer separate from NIN.
Now I feel like takin’ a bath (not in cyanide though).
Yes, I also misheard the lyric as “I’m takin’ a bath inside” before I looked up the lyrics so you don’t feel dumb too.
I liked the part where he said he’s never done collaborations before, and was perfectly happy to ask David Bowie or John Lennon if they were an option, but was like “oh no, I could never ask Trent. I’d be embarrassed as he’s turning me down.” haha
Josh Freese has mannerisms like and reminds me so much of Owen Wilson.
Dude I had a ham sandwich next to Danny elfman in a green room like 4 years ago. But I didn't realize it was Danny elfman til he went on stage
Front and center for tonight’s Coachella performance! Really excellent. Obviously was holding out hope for a Trent cameo, but once the strings started on True and there was no second mic set up, I knew it was not to be. But he crushed it; I was so glad to see him focusing on the new songs but still doing all the big film hits to please the crowd.
Sweet! How did it sound that close? The livestream mix sounded wild (have to find a rip this afternoon)! Obviously, you didn't read his interview with Billboard Magazine.
Watching a video of Danny's performance @ Coachella. Sure looks like he stole the festival!
There's a great episode of Maron's WTF podcast with Danny Elfman. It's on youtube, I won't post a link as to not to attract attention to the unofficial upload (the episodes get taken down often).
There are no mentions of Trent, but they spend a good chunk of the episode discussing Big Mess and how Danny was preparing for the original Coachella show which got delayed to this year, and how the album basically grew from that.
Has anyone recorded the stream or is about to do so next Saturday? Would love to hear "sorry" and the other tracks from "big mess".
