This makes perfect sense!!!
Oh @marodi , this is our lucky day!
Hooray!!!!
I knew it. I fucking knew it.
Does anyone think this will be on Danny's new album deluxe version? That hasn't shipped/ released yet.
So can I just get this straight. Finck plays on the original version, Trent's only appearing on the remix?
Robin Finck does play guitar on a few other tracks on the album Big Mess, but does not play on the track True.

This is really great, I’ll probably listen to the album now
Strong Tetsuo vibes from this, its great!
this fucks.
Ooo, this is good. Also, Danny Elfman is almost 70 and still able to sing like that?! That's fantastic!
Good point I've certainly heard nightmare before Christmas and knew he did that, I'll stand corrected. Perhaps better stated as I'm not too familiar with his singing outside of the movies or I didn't know I was listening to him. Never made the Elfman:Oingo Boingo connection.
It was the same for me up until 2015 or so. I knew about both but separately. I literally went "Wait, the film composer whose works I grew up loving was the singer for that?", likely echoing baffled statements of future TR/AR fans. Boingo, their last album, really seemed like it was paving the way for a dark solo career...it's long overdue.
Also, this is, if I'm being honest, the first collab out of TR+X over the past while I've thought was straight amazing, top to bottom. It's been ehh (Tobacco) to pretty great (Health) to holy fucking amazeballs (this)

I popped this on in the car coming back from the coffee shop and...I was not prepared for that. Remixes (of any kind) are hit and miss for me so I didn't have very high expectations but that was a shock to the system. Holy shit.
Oh shit. I’m gonna have to start listening to Oingo Boingo now, aren’t I?
It's cool these film composers have side projects.
Seriously, though, this is fucking great. Who knows when we'll get more NIN, but Babysitter, Isn't Everyone, and True have been some amazing surprises to scratch that itch along the way (not to mention the Bowie tribute, the Halsey record, film scores, etc).
No shit! I was just thinking yesterday that even if the "theme" of the new NIN record isn't still about "collaboration" like Trent once said, we're getting plenty of that in the way of this recent string of great songs you mentioned. I'm only familiar with Danny Elfman's scoring work (he's up there with John Williams as far as how much of my childhood was scored by him), but I will have to check out his entire new album because I'm really liking this track. I'm glad it has an appropriately creepy music video, too! Speaking of which, I'd love to see NIN return to making more videos. This one and the video for St. Vincent's cover of Sad But True feel VERY NIN-esque.
I just started this thread of a Spotify list I made today compiling a bunch of the little collabs, one-offs, etc. that Trent and Atticus have worked on over the years:
