YES! So happy they actually made this.

And CBS has just announced they're going streaming as well. Except no Big Bang Theory or NFL football.
The HBO streaming will be awesome as long as it offers everything HBO Go has. I've been using a friend's account for Go but I'd gladly pay for the streaming.
Based on the true story of the Essex . Don't go read that if you don't want spoilers! It's also the story that inspired Moby Dick (which you must read because it's a masterpiece and because it's not really spoilerish since it ends with the ship sinking and don't go beyond that, which the movie does).
I loooooooove those type of stories and I've been waiting for this movie since it was announced. Also: Hemsworth is hot.
Just yesterday, I picked up a used copy of a Ray Bradbury book I had never heard of..... Green Shadows, White Whale. It's an account of the adventures in Ireland that Ray had while adapting Moby Dick with John Huston for the 1956 film.

Must have this book! That movie gave me nightmares, seriously.
I must point out though that Moby Dick is not the retelling of the Essex tragedy; there were no Ahab looking for a leg eater whale on board the Essex. Melville spoke to Owen Chase (Hemsworth's character) about the whale that sunk his ship and what he retained of the story is the behavior of that huge sperm whale: it deliberately (huge emphasis on deliberately) attack and sunk the Essex although none on the whaler ship had even try to attack it in the first place. That was one pissed of whale for some reason. And none of that is spoilerish since it's shown in the trailer.
Like I said, it's what happens after that that's spoilers.
Finally! A movie for the rest of us that we can all enjoy.

An Evil Dead television series starring Bruce as Ash and Sam Raimi directing. You don't have to tell me twice.

I didn't see it mentioned on this page - The big Criterion/Barnes & Noble 50%-off sale is going on now through December 1st. GO GO GO.
But be sure to ask about it if you're buying in-store. This summer, I tried picking up a few things from a store while I was on vacation, and the guy rang up my FULL total, then told me that the in-store sale didn't start until the next weekend or something.
AMC Preacher

Stephen King's "The Stand" will be a Jackson-esque, 4-movie, bloated epic.
The Hobbit is indeed bloated; Jackson made 3 interminable movies out of a finger thick book but The Stand is one of King's longest novels (with IT and excluding The Dark Tower). I can understand why they're doing it in 3 movies.
What they'd better not mess up is the casting of Randall Flagg.
Dammit, Ridley Scott, keep it together.

The Shield (Complete Series Set) is on sale at Amazon
I just bought this. Great price for a great series. I never watched it but being a Sons of Anarchy fan as well as hearing how great it is, it'd be dumb to miss buying this for $24.99.
Ted 2 leaked trailer with unfinished visuals and the puppeteer still in the shot.

You definitely won't regret it. I got it for 30 earlier in the year but haven't gotten around to watching it much (I had a Hulu marathon last year).
The only warning I'd give is that the packaging is kind of crap. It's something like 30-40 DVD's, and they are held in by two opposing spindles. You shouldn't have any issue with any discs getting loose, but it's a bit of a chore to go through them all to find the disc you want to watch.
Holy Fucking Shit! Holy Fucking Shit! Holy Fucking Shit!
"According to HBO, the process has been achieved by rescanning over 8,000 reels of original negatives, with extensive work to make sure it retains the feel of the original broadcast. If you're convinced, you can buy the series as a bundle or per season on the usual download sites (Amazon, iTunes, Google Play, Xbox Video and Vudu) starting January 5th, while a Blu-ray release is due next summer."
