Jim definitely had a unique style. Seems like the band went in a darker, more aggressive direction after he was gone. I really like Jon Hudson too.

Precious little info there, it's the first song released by Dead Cross which has Patton and Dave Lombardo.
Article about the band and album, plus a new song!

I do not like the direction their music took once they brought in Patton as a replacement singer. It's gotten too silly and spastic for me compared to the heavier earlier track(s) I heard with the original guy. Oh well.
Grave Slave is fucking fantastic. I'm all over this Dead Cross shit now, love this song.
Fantomas is joining the Tool show in June that also includes Primus, The Melvins, and Clutch!

New Dead Cross video. Fuck yes. Also announced that Secret Chiefs 3 will be supporting on the tour.
anyone heard the Dead Cross album? Onions?
It's pretty decent. Very dense & compact. Plus a fun Bela Lugosi cover.
But yeah, nothing groundbreaking.
i LOVE it. the bela lugosi's dead cover and the closing track are my two highlights, but the whole thing is great. i'm curious as to whether the version of the album with gabe on vocals had the same lyrics (meaning he wrote the ones patton ended up singing) or different ones (meaning patton wrote his own lyrics to go with the songs and ignored the ones gabe originally wrote).
anyway, it's a lot of fun, the packaging is awesome (all of the lyrics are printed in glow in the dark inside the gatefold), and i will be listening to it repeatedly for a while.
Is it as annoyingly spastic as some of the songs released with Mike Patton sounded?
Grave Slave is still my favourite.
Am digging this album.
I think i should just download illegally and give it a try. Complaining like I have thus far without d/l'ing and listening is the height of laziness.
I personally loved it. Definitely among my favorite albums that have come out this year. I was kinda hoping for it to be a little more experimental like my favorite Patton album, Irony Is A Dead Scene, but I loved it from beginning to end. I wish it was longer, though.
Fav songs: Shillelagh, Grave Slave, Bela Lugosi's Dead, Church of the Motherfuckers
Damn I need to find a couple of hours so I can go buy the CD: that song "Shillelagh" totally gave me a "Digging the Grave"/"Another Body Murdered" vibe.
I was just thinking last night that KFAD is possibly my fave Patton release, period.
Funny, Shillelagh is my least favourite song.
Great album.
I gave California a listen for the first time a few days ago, and it's bonkers, but in the best way possible. It's such an awesome record! I've been a fan of FNM for ages, but I've only just recently started to check out some of Mike's other projects.
"California" is among my Top 5 Patton albums (of all his projects...)
I like all the Bungle albums, but "California" is something else..

None of Them Knew They Were Robots and Ars Moriendi are fantastically wacky songs. Sweet Charity is one of the best Patton songs ever too, I think. I really like how the album is melodic, cacophonous, strange and catchy all at once.
