    Allie Goertz: Peeled Back

I know we have a separate thread for NIN covers, but Allie Goertz just released an entire 15 track album of NIN covers, so it feels like it deserves its own thread. A lot of acoustic / downtempo interpretations of songs you wouldn't expect like Reptile, Ruiner, March of the Pigs, Wish, etc. I'm really loving it and hope you do, too!

Ruiner, Big Man, We're In This Together, Warm Place are standouts for me. Amazing set of reinterpretations...calling them 'covers' cheapens IMO. Not to get greedy but I'd love to hear her tackle The Fragile album in it's entirety.

Edit: I was surprised to see this (only 2 years!):

A bit too twee for my taste, but somewhat interesting at least. Certainly better than a lot of covers that get released.

Yeah, it's certainly not my style but I can appreciate it anyway. Like I think it's actually great but it's not necessarily something I would listen to if it wasn't covers of a band I already like. It's certainly a lot weirder than it could have been and I love that about it

I backed her kickstarter for this. Can't wait for the b-sides and the complete PHM cover album.

This is so incredibly good. She's done a remarkable job of breathing some exciting new life into these songs. So many standouts. "The Becoming" is exquisite. I really wish "A Warm Place" was longer. What a lovely little surprise this was. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

I really loved how she changed Annie to Allie in The Becoming

Will the vinyl be available? Or has that come and gone?

This is great, and I support more of this.

Anyone remember back in the day how we only had that one weird Terrible Lie cover on the internet?

This is really quite something. Drastically different in so many ways, but generally retains just enough essence of the originals, suggesting an intimate understanding of them despite only being a fan for a couple years. And in this distillation process every song is considerably shorter, which is interesting in its own right. Starting with Closer but ending Wish with the "Closer notes" is a nice bookend. And her cover of Piggy in particular has shades of early/unreleased Lana Del Rey, which is fine by me.

The one that was miscredited to TOOL?
