Dunno if he's doing that at every show, but I swear that's from Vancouver! He does laps, and his playing style has gotten really low, in that he bends at the waist so much that his guitar was touching the floor!

Over the last 3 days I've seen NIN twice, traveled to the US for the first time, met a good number of awesome ETSers, got my first pay cheque from my new job, and went to a comedy club tonight and got ripped on by the headliner. Best weekend I've had in a long long time. I'd mention the ETSers by name but I don't want to accidentally leave anyone out!

Lucky devil, wish I could have gone

I bought a Boss Heavy Metal distortion pedal today. I think I have a serious case of Gear Lust right now. $40 at the flea market, though, from a reputable vendor!

So, a goofy little mashup I made apparently resonated with a lot of users, blowing up to 2,982 plays in one day. The number of overall plays on my music (both original and mashups) has exploded. I'm so happy, I keep refreshing the tab just to see the numbers increase.

Got the offer letter I have been waiting for, totally in line with what I was expecting. Yea! Back to work in a field I love, with a lot of travel. Happy Days are here again!

Why are you crying? Were you watching Rudy?

*woman butchers national anthem* "well that was borderline treasonous... my father didn't fight the Nazis... and the puck drops!"

The movie is an absolute beauty. Heard they were workin on a part 2. Now that would really cheer me up.

    $100 electric turkey fryer.

    Two gallons of peanut oil.

    PERFECT FUCKING TURKEY.

Nothing wrecks the mood like peekaboo pink turkey flesh and shoving the damn thing back in the oven. We will never roast a turkey again.

We did that once; then had no idea how to get rid of all that peanut oil. It's still in my basement. We're dumping it at a hazmat drop off in a few weeks.

Today's turkey was roasted in my new Wolf convection oven. It took less than two hours, everybody raved about how great it was.

Except ... I don't like turkey. I only like it if it's been marinated or blackened.

Next year, we have Thanksgiving pizza.

Cooking TDay dinner in my remodeled kitchen was awesome.

Our state Dept of Environmental Protection doesn't seem to care as long as we put it out with the trash in sealed containers. There are recycling programs but they only mention restaurants — I dunno if 2 gallons is enough to get anyone excited around here.

Cooking oil isn't on the list for our local hazardous waste program either.

I used to complain that a roasted turkey was a lot of unnecessary labor for something so mediocre. I could care less about tradition. But eventually we all agreed that a turkey breast is enough for three people, and brining finally made it something worth eating.

Fried not only tastes better, it's fast (and less work than brining). We have one small plate of leftovers, which is a victory in itself.

We ended up with about 5 gallons of used peanut oil and we aren't allowed to throw it in the trash, and it's allegedly very bad for plumbing and the sewer system so we can't flush it, and we had NO idea what to do with it later, and this never occurred to me when I decided that deep-fried turkey on the patio in the freezing cold was a brilliant idea.

Now, several local villages are doing used-turkey-oil drop off events to keep it out of the sewers but none near us; the guys at SWALCO haz (where we drop off stuff like two stroke snowblower gas and oil-based paints) say they'll take it so I'm gonna put it in a bunch of kitty litter containers to transport over there. Yuck. Yeah the recycling places don't want dinner oil, just restaurant bulk grease (I checked).

I brined the bird, once. Once. Never again. Yuck what a mess.

Turkey is the most boring bland bird, and the fucking pilgrims didn't even EAT turkey. I'd rather have chicken!! You're right; whole roasted turkey is a lot of labor for a mediocre bird. Even deep-fried is just lipstick on a pig. Pig, mmmmmmm, that's a better idea!! I do kinda like marinated turkey tenderloin or blackened really spicy turkey medallions, but mom won't go for that stuff.

My strawberry tarts, though, mmmmmm good.

What cheers me up: THANKSGIVING IS OVER!! Next year, Mom is doing TDay dinner at her place. I'll bring stuffing.

I hate my last job and most of the people I worked with to it's very core, but I got a message tonight from a few new guys saying they had a rough one and that they missed me, so it feels pretty good that anyone I hardly knew, let alone 4 people, cared about me enough to actually say anything. If I'm back for Christmas I might have to take them out for a round of beers.

When I was in Glasgow for the football on Tuesday, I saw someone give his lunch to a homeless guy. That was a day brightener

Looks like a guy I work with will be possibly stepping in at my part time job and maybe apt as once im gone. He's wants to move and I would like to find someone to take over at my job cause I do like my boss and don't want to put him in a pickle. Glad to help on both ends.

Also I got the clipboard and put in charge last night, so it looks like I'll actually get the KM job at taco after all. It should be a decent salary too. I'm pretty pumped as things run pretty good there and since the menu is pretty small doing the food order should be cake. Everyone already respects me too should I think it will be an easy transition. Feels good not be jerked around about this kind of stuff . If it doesn't work out I can easily get another job and work through till fall and go back to school full time as well. It's kind of a win win. Not too shabby for a job I didn't even technically apply for in the first place.

Agonizing over what to write in the card for my daughters birthday. She lives on the other side of the country. For reasons I've talked about in another thread, I was highly anxious at the time. Now it just makes me smile a little inside. I think this is a good thing.

I wasn't going to do it this soon because most of it is on Netflix but Amazon has Breaking Bad for $11.99 a season on Blu-ray. I just couldn't resist that. The final season was a little more pricey ($35) but still...the entire series for $102 with tax? Yeah. Couldn't pass that up.

Sat in on a jam session. Totally random in every sense. I didn't play but was really cool to see.

If you can get your hands on an Echo Park by Line 6 you'll never need another delay pedal again
