I got a 10% merit raise at work on friday, about a month after getting my first salary bonus of 11%. My boss is saying i should get a pretty serious promotion by summer, just waiting on corporate timing and things.

    Life is good.

I've decided that I want to collect some of those G.I. Joe Classified 6-inch figures.

The detailing on them look great.

I'll be going to the local comic+entertainment con next week so I'm hoping there'll be a bunch available.

I have a robust budget I can play with... so... who knows that I'll come home with.

I just want to play to with toys...

I started, got the B.A.T. from Super7 because that looked cool and then Snake Eyes & Timber from the Classified Series and I realized that I have a space issue if I keep this up, lol.

That said, got an email from Run the Jewels this morning and this looks pretty amazing. There are 5 color options, one already sold out, and it's $175.

As for cheering me up, I was cleaning my office and opened a binder I haven't used in at least two years and it had $300 in it. I don't even remember using it as a hiding place.

EDIT: apparently the other options are for cities? The Atlanta one is sold out, there were only 20 offered?

Ah, you can't in-line YT shorts. Well, just a lot of links I guess.

Background: I had one of these pop up in the recommended and for once Al Gore knew what I liked, these are very absurd videos that hit my funny bone just right. They're titled with an animal fact that is borne out in the video.

Shorts can be viewed as regular videos too. If you replace the "shorts/" part of the URL with "watch?v=" then they're just regular youtube videos that can be embedded here.

4ish hours until we head off to the local comic con... first time going to this version of the con (went a few times in the 90s and very early 2000s... a vastly different landscape now).

we're doing VIP, so early access to stuff...

Hoping to get the majority of the priority shopping done and have a mellow time after that.

hoping... really hoping that this adventure goes well.

Well for what it's worth, I've been getting into smoothies lately. So I make banana mango smoothies with chia seeds. Healthy stuff. It has improved my mood.

I stopped drinking soda (and caffeine in general) again - hopefully for good this time. I had previously quit for about a year and a half. After the initial caffeine withdrawal headaches, I've been feeling a lot happier and more energetic already. This should also help me get back to a healthy weight since I won't be drinking hundreds of calories every day.

My son is performing in a rendition of Suessical Kids tomorrow! I got to work the rehearsals as para support for another cast member so it's been really cool being able to see all of the hard work everybody put into the play.

For some reason I've started to get "Just Rolled In" videos in my recommended feed. They are - at the same time - some of the funniest and scariest things ever. The number of times it's been "the frame is rusted through and the tire is about to fall off" followed by "customer declined repairs and drove away"...how. Just, how. But also there's some like "customer states the steering wheel is hard to turn" and they take the console apart and it's full of reeses pieces that has hardened to a PB concrete?! and you just have to laugh.

there's also hoarders cars and those are just sad. But also scary, like the one where "customer states to look out for rats" or the one where cockroaches were just running amuck.

I'm cataloguing all of my LEGO instruction sets into a spreadsheet and the LEGO Builder app.

I'm unreasonably happy doing this. Long overdue.

It'll be nice to get a good idea of just how much we have over here...

We finally got fiber internet installed today! This morning we were on DSL (all we could get in rural vermont). Our max download speed was about 10 megabits per second. The new internet is 100-200x faster than that, and for essentially the same price.
