Any hate or dissatisfaction with Type O Negative is misplaced. There are actually bad bands out there that deserve venom and vile hatred, not TON.

Type O Negative are some of the best, most original metal bands of the 1990's or possibly of all time to me. So much heart, melancholy, humor and touching lyrics you can get behind. The music is killer too. No other band like them, never has been and never will be. Even A Pale Horse Named Death isn't close.

You're crazy! The video is amazingly shot and the song is so full of emotion.

This was so random, it made me chuckle hard. You made my night. I really don't have an opinion of him, but I could see how he could annoy you.

I don't like James Taylor very much either. He's pretty boring as hell. There's nothing controversial about that.

James Taylor is pretty boring but he once did a cover of CSN's "woodstock" on stern back in the 90's or early 2000's and it was amazing.

I've stated that I thought Extreme was an underrated band. Here's my review from last night's show:

Saw Extreme last night at the House of Blues in Boston. You haven't lived a Bostonian rocker's life until you've drunkenly sang along to "More than Words" with the band that wrote it. The show started late because someone pulled the fire alarm right before they were set to play--weird. The band played their landmark album 'Pornograffitti' front-to-back. I haven't really listened to this album or Extreme too much since high school, but I enjoyed the show. Unfortunately, Extreme get lumped in with bands like Winger or Trixter as some watered-down, lightweight, third-tier hair-metal band, and that's not fair. Yeah, their big hit is "More Than Words," but that and a few other ballads aside, the band rocked hard--combining elements of funk, Van Halen-esque virtuosity with Queen-like progressive orchestrations. Extreme should have had a better run with more acclaim, but Seattle got in the way--oh well. Gary Cherone was always an underrated frontman and Nuno is an underrated guitar god. I worked that day and was pretty tired, but had a lot of fun.

Here is a controversial opinion for you....I actually liked Gary Cherone as Van Halen's frontman. Always liked his voice. I still listen to it once in a while. Boy, I never thought I'd admit that on a forum!

Yeah, I also liked VH3. I sort of see it as a "noble failure." I posted about that a while ago in this thread. If a box set is ever released that spans their entire career, I'd like to hear the demos from that album and its aborted follow-up, which were supposedly better than the one album that the lineup released. Listened to VH3 for the first time in ages last week and still dig it despite its flaws--i.e., Gary singing out of his range, production, etc.

Must have missed that post....or forgot if it was a while back. I swear I lose brain cells by the minute. Sooo I might as well admit to not hating James Taylor or thinking he's boring. I think it's a time and place thing. Being a teen in the 70's, that music takes me back. Same with Carole King and Carly Simon, Jackson Browne etc. Saw all of them live back in the day. Not that I listen to it much, but if I hear a track on the radio I still enjoy it. It's weird, I don't like to talk much about stuff I don't like, so I probably shouldn't be in this thread!

While the sound was top notch, the playing left nothing to desire and we all got what we expected I've never seen such a boring show from start to finish. A way to big music hall with absolutely zero fans in it, but only crossjumping kids that can't adapt to a beat and a band with pretty much no conncetion to that god awful crowd.

Apart from 3-4 songs everything seemed like a huge big riff-fest with no melody. I didn't really get that impression from the record but oh boy was I dissappointed with this show. I actually wanted to leave which I never do. No jams, no building up on tension, no interludes, nothing. Only the record all the way through and some copied rockstar poses.

That band definitely has been given too much attention and fame in a way too short time. Theere's pretty much nothing a young band could want anymore which they don't already have IMHO and that already shows in their attire. The drummer taking a bath in the crowd at the end and not even moving one single muscle in his face? C'mon! I may watch some footage on youtube, but they sure felt disconnected and ten feet above the ground.

A whiny post maybe, but was I mad yesterday as this was a very lousy start for this years concert run...
I was looking on google for articles expressing my dislike of hype and trends in music and I found one on Royal Blood, which I actually agreed with in a lot of ways

Manson and Smashing Pumpkins (Corgan), should tour together. As, Who really gives a Fuck. Throw Weiland in as an opener.

I don't think that this is too controversial but I'm gonna throw it out anyways: Fiona Apple can do no wrong.

you know how they have all those tours where eighties rock bands get together, like Warrant, Winger, Ratt and Poison or whatever?

Well i hope we get something like that for our generation. Why the fuck not?
I hope that in ten years we'll be going to see the same sort of nostalgia tours with, say, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, STP, and AIC.

I have a love/hate relationship with pop-punk and post-hardcore... On one hand, I love bands like Pup, Touche Amore, Osker, and Joyce Manor. I even play in a pop-punk band. But there have been so many bands that sometimes really turn me off from the genre(s) i.e. some 90's stuff like Rancid, The Offspring, and most of the shit on Warped tour

I don't know if it's controversial, but I love Lily Allen.
Catchy pop with intelligent, thought-provoking, engaging lyrics: quite rare actually.

Considering that this song is still seemingly the biggest hit she's had, I'm just perplexed by the way you see it.

It seems borderline psychotic in a really petty way. Imagine if this was a video where some dude decided to torment his ex girlfriend and laugh at her while giggling about how much he's fucking her life up... and this is one of those cases where the song really does fit the video. It's really weird, but the furthest thing from thought-provoking in my opinion. More than anything else it just seems really obnoxious and childish.

My GF wanted Fuck You (Very Much) on the vacations playlist one year and the comments were all "so witty" ! And as much as I can appreciate the sentiment expressed in the song, I don't find the writing witty, controversial or even clever in the least... But well, that's really the only song with which I'm familiar...

Most songs lyrics are just stupid without the music and everyone who thinks music vs. words are equally important is silly.

I can't stand the vocals on Skinny Puppy almost ever. All I hear is a guy taking a shit with a sore throat who just found out there's no toilet paper left. I've tried getting into them more times than I can count because of how much they get brought up in reference to NIN and how much I generally have enjoyed industrial or industrial influenced stuff, but SP is just a brick wall for me that I can't seem to climb over or break through at all.

Same here... the vocal delivery just absolutely kills any enjoyment for me. And I don't know why they are always referenced or even brought up as the holy grail of all things industrial.

Wasn't saying it was bad... just the lineup matches the comments. I would go if I lived close enough for sure.
Angel Dust by Faith No More was/is one of my favourite albums although they went downhill from there (think they changed guitarists?)... Antichrist Superstar by MM great too... and Filthpig by Ministry...
didn't realise this was controversial opinions thread ok, here goes... I like Pet Shop Boys better than Tool...
